Best US History Book

So I need to know, what is the best SAT II US histoire book. I got Princeton Review and after scoring 760- 780 on the practice test, I only got a 660. This of course made me very very unhappy considering that history is my bag baby (and I got a 750 on chem yet did nothing in that class all year).
Please provide advice ohh young and powerful geniuses of the World (or because this is US History, I guess just US)

haha do NOT get barrons, that book is like 10x harder than the real thing

I'm not sure about Princeton Review since I've never personally used it. I self studied AP USH using AMSCO and didn't do any extra studying for the SAT II USH. I love AMSCO, if PR isn't working for you, maybe you would want to consider giving it a try. But first, what kind of Qs are you getting wrong? Maybe you have to change ur study habits with PR. I'm not sure, PR can't be that bad, right?

Well I took the SAT back in January (which due to block scheduling is whe I had finished history). My history teacher (who favors substance in area over covering the entire history of ourr nation) never got to the cold war or WWII. I've been learning these things by myself, I'm wondering if there is a better book than PR which just briefly touches on everything. Plus my school does not offer AP HIstory, I've only been able to take honors.

Barrons has a really nice review of history IMO, it breaks it down by President and has a good amount for each... however the practice tests are REDICULOUS

Ok so I will try the barrons I guess, this time around. PR just had very basic amount of information (they include World History and US History together which didn't work well).

-Thanks for the help

Actually I strongly advise you against Barron's. The practice tests are crap and do NOT reflect the actual test Qs at all. I also found the passages sometimes difficult and too detailed-oriented to read.

Yea, I told him that, I think he's just looking for a good review of history... which I believe Barrons has. I would advice getting something else for practice tests though.

ok
Tenchars

You should get the Real SAT book by collegeboard for subject tests, because it has one real exam from a past year.

That thing saved me today considering four or five questions were basically restated on today's SAT, including some super hard ones I wouldn't have got without using that book first.

But ya, Kaplan's practice tests were also pretty good, a little harder than the real exam, and the book has four of them.

i thought my ap pr book had a nice review of the history. I sued barron's for my sat II and hated it! MY AP book helped me for the SAT II than Barron's did!
E

Although you say Barrons doesn't reflect the test at all, does the book still prepare you will for the actual test?

It does in the sense that it's VERY detailed. But you don't need to know half the things it tells you. If you're going to buy a practice book, why not just buy one with good info AND practice tests?

I got Kaplans, its like 4 times the size of pr, plus it was the only thing available at my local book store. GL to all. May the 800s be with you

i'm using the SAT II history book from sparknotes.

good review; haven't checked any of the tests out so i can't tell you how accurate they are.

how good is the sparknotes review (not the practice tests, the online book)?

which has the most tests and best tests?

how about the REA SAt ii ush book?

online book i think is the same as the paper book.

it's pretty good; most of what you need to know.

Well guys, how 'bout Sparknotes ? Are questions and preparation materials Sparknotes provide us ( I mean in their website ) trustworthy ? Some people say Sparknotes is a colossal source and extremely useful. Is that correct ? :)
