If you've taken History recently u don't need a book.

the Spark Notes book is good

"If you've taken History recently u don't need a book"

...

Well since I'm taking the test in January its been about 6 months since I took AP US... I did get a 5 but theres still a lot I do not remember.

REA books.........are good

I think the best book depends where you are aiming...

Low 700s go Kaplan
800 read Kaplan and Barron (or just Barron)

I think the Barron book will overprepare you on the facts and make the kaplan tests look pretty darn easy as long as you know your social history because Barrons is null and void on all that.

Coming from someone who hasn't taken any history in nearly a year.

i think the dummies book is good in conjunction with sparknotes. i just did US hist SAT just then and i thought the books prepared me well (certainly weren't any surprises)- for someone who is an international and self-studied the entire thing. Of course, I don't have my scores to back it up, but i think getting prep books is a good idea just to be prepared for the tricks and the wording and the structure.

AMSCO is pretty good.

amsco REA books--760 and i didn't takte apush

uh, i used sparknotes practice tests for about 3 hours the night before the test as my only form of studying (it had been almost a year since i had taken APUSH) and i got a 780...

so sparknotes is pretty good.

i like the dummies

and i am now using it for regular history class

So Kaplan is the best one, along with dummies?

NEED YOUR HELP!
guys, i
m an international student, so it
s not surprising that I haven
t ever studied USHistory. However, I
m enthusiastic about self-preparation. Therefore, I need your advice whether the Kaplan book ALONE can prepare a person with zero-level of knowledge for the test. Or is there any other good book to use alone or with the Kaplan`s one. I really need your help and appreciate any feedback, thanks!

well what score are you aiming for

800 ;)
the problem is in the source of information for the test, there is no problem with learning all that stuff. i just don`t know which books contain enough information knowing which will get to me to high 700 score.
thanks in advance for your responses!

kaplan and amsco offer good information

bump-bump-bump !

I also agree with those who feel Kaplan is the best book to use. I used it to prepare and it covers everything. The only thing is, the book is quite long so you'll need at least a week to go through it properly. Good luck!

i find the kaplan practice tests not very difficult, anyone else feel that way?
