Im from ohio and just wanted to ask current usf students what hall would be best for an out of state student. I heard that a lot of people go home on the weekend and i dont want to be stuck in a hall that everybody goes home on the weekend. I think I would prefer to be in a traditional style dorm. So my question is are there any residence halls that would be best for an out of state student?

To be honest, there is no hall where everybody leaves for the weekend. Your hall of choice is dependent on your preferences. If you like traditional dorms then look into Beta and Castor Hall. On the weekends, make plans with your friends. Hang out with them. It won’t matter whether a person down your hall is leaving for home on the weekend, if you’re socializing.

I think Juniper Poplar(suite style) is the best or Magnolia(apt. style). Traditional dorms encourages people to be more social rather than suite style however. While a lot of people that go to USF are from the tampa area or close by not everyone goes home on the weekend. Less than half do really. Magnolia holds a lot of international students. The greek named housing (not greek life) like epsilon, theta, etc are older but majority of students live over there so it isnt so bad.

If you really want an automatic way of meeting a crap load of people then go for the greek letter housing. The nicest hall is JP. You have to be in the honors college to be in Juniper, though. Poplar has a lot of LLC students. JP is a little out of the way and is somewhat a bubble. But it is a comfortable bubble that I don’t mind living in!

Excuse the ignorance, but what is an LLC student?
