Yea, in case you haven't realized, I have a rather massive video gaming collection.

PaRappa the Rapper. So awesome.

beh, I'm not a gamer but I like Silent Hill even though I've only played the first one.

Shining Force 1 & 2 - Sega Genesis - Best RPGs ever. Started the whole turn-based fighting system, which is basically ripped off by FF (which btw I hate). All Sonic games are awesome as well and Resident Evil games are wicked cool too.

I'm sorry crypto86, but do you honestly think that some games released on the Sega Genesis were ripped off by the Final Fantasy series-- a series of games that were initially released on Nintendo's Entertainment System (NES) many years prior? I just fail to see that connection.

http://www.shiningforcecentral.com

Read the history of the Shining Force Series and see for yourself! ;D

So I checked out that webpage, which I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith in considering it's just a fanpage, and realized what you meant in your first comment. Apparently they use a turn-based/strategy battle system that has been used in Final Fantasy Tactics, correct? If that is the case, then yes, Tactics came after the the first Shining Force with such a battle system. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other games that might have used such a battle system before Shining Force (to be honest, I try to steer clear of such games {I can handle the turn-based aspect but putting the added restrictions on the battle system makes the gameplay go from strategic to boring in mine eye}). Welp, carry on, and just for future reference, you might want to make your comments a little clearer as to not upset the rampant RPG/FF fans. :)

I can rip yah anyday o' tha week in NBA 2K5 on XBox Live :D

Metroid Prime owns all, with honourable mentions to Super Smash Bros Melee and Super Mario 64.
EA can rot in hell.

AMEN TO THAT

did you hear that they gobbled up the espn sports game franchise?!???
no more excellent 20 dollar games = :(

Shocking. One day EA is actually going to end up taking over the world.

Well, the whole strategy RPG thing was originally began with Fire Emblem on the NES. Fire Emblem 4 on the SNES btw is mass pwnage.

Half-Life, in my opinion, was a LOT better than Half-Life 2 (though it was good too). Half-Life just had so much to it-- I played it again just a month or so ago and it still blew almost everything I have ever played out of the water. As far as console games, Zelda: Ocarina of Time is probably my favorite game. Halo is good too though. :D

Can't beat NES. The cartridge that had both Mario and Duck Hunt was beautiful. How I'd love to get my claws around that giant Desert Eagle and pop a few ducks in the ass again. There was this Home Alone game that never ceased to scare the hell out of me. It was the only children's game I know that you can get brutally killed in, and the music was creepy as hell. A true Christmas classic.

Mario+Duck Hunt=genious.

But, the NES had way too many krazy good games. Castlevania 3, Megaman 2/3, Ninja Gaiden, Fire Emblem 2.... ack, I should go play my Kirby's Adventure's cart. I feel tingly already.

I loved Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Prince of Persia. Such compelling stories...

My favorite on PC are HL2, Diablo II, and Evercrack.
