hi,
my daughter is interested in classical music but wants acting and movement to be included in the training. Where are the best schools for this?

Is she looking for a conservatory setting or a university major?

While I have yet to see gadad give uninformed advice regarding music programs, there is a dedicated subforum here [Music Major - College Confidential](Music Major - College Confidential Forums) where you will find a vast wealth of knowledge and experience. ;)

That’s an excellent suggestion. But before you head over there, be sure that you understand the difference between a B.A. program (liberal arts major) at a college, a B.Mus. program (pre-professional major) at a college, and a conservatory degree, which will be almost exclusively pre-professional training. If the student has high academic aspirations as well as high vocal performance aspirations, it will be very challenging to do both. (In that case, send me a Personal Message, and I’ll share what I learned over a couple years of CC research.)

Here is an excellent article from the website of the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins. It is ostensibly about double degrees in music performance and another discipline, but whether that is an interest or not, the article offers a good deal of insight into the various approaches to college music study.:
