Best Way to Get Into the University of Washington

Hi, I'm a high school senior who was recently rejected from the University of Washington for Autumn 2014. My ultimate goal is to get into UW, and as soon as possible. The two paths I see are going to Western Washington University, where I was accepted, then transferring in after a year. Another option is to go to a community college such as Seattle Central Community College for summer and autumn quarter then transfer into UW for Winter 2014. I'm leaning in towards the second option because I've heard its easier to transfer from a community college than a university. If it helps, I already have 12 college credits and would try for at least 18 credits per quarter, bringing my total to more than 48 before transferring in. I'd just like some advice as to what the University of Washington prefers for transfers. Thanks.

Definitely go to a WA community college. It is far, far more difficult to get in from a 4 year. At least that’s what I’ve heard time and time again.

Go to a WA community college. It’s difficult to transfer from a 4 year university/college, even with stellar grades.

Seconding the advice to go to a Community College. However, you should know that not a lot of applicants with less than 90 credits are accepted, even if your grades are excellent. If you choose to go to a community college, expect to stay there for as long as it takes to get your AA. But on the plus side, if you do well, you have an excellent chance of getting into UW when you’re done, much better than if you went to another 4-year university.
