Best Way to Prepare for the English Literature AP exam?

I am taking this test this coming May. I would really like some tips or suggestions on ways to prepare for this exam. What practice books are the best? What should I study? Etc. Etc. Any tips would be helpful.

Go practice writing essays using the previous years’ prompts that are on the College Board website. Get a list of Literary Terms and Devices from an English teacher and study those. Read and analyze as many recommended “classics” as possible.

That’s pretty much everything anyone can do for this one.

okay cool. i’ll do that.

i would buy the barron’s book and study that. after using diff rev books like princeton rev, kaplan, etc, barrons was definitely the best.
even tho it has the hardest prac test questions, it helps a lot.
if you wnat to know what areas to focus on, take the diagnostic test or first prac test and see where ur weakest on.

For that essay question where you draw on previous knowledge about the books you have read, should we go ahead and pick a couple of books and study them in-depth?

I was thinking:
Practice Tests
Flashcards with Literary Terms
Know Analysis of a couple of books

[AP Literature: Titles from Free Response Questions since 1973](http://homepage.mac.com/mseffie/AP/APtitles.html)

this site should be helpful. it compiles all the works of literature on the ap (mc + free response). and the years they appeared (it starts in 1971!!!) are in parenthesis. so read the books that appeared in the most number of years.

this is how i’m studying for the previous knowledge essay

That is a great list. But now I am really depressed.

Wow, after reading that list, I feel majorly screwed. At the bottom, it lists that most cited works, and the most cited one I’ve read is King Lear…nothing higher up on that list. And all I remember about Antigone is that she was locked away in a stone cave or something? Methinks I need to study.

That’s a good list. A lot of the works that were on the '08 list, I’ve read. Hopefully, at least one or two of them will pop up on this years test.
