Should I just dive right into the questions and look at the info later rather than spending what you think might be less than 2 minutes trying to understand one of the 7 passages but you spend too much time on?

yes, that’s a good way to do it.. it’s what i do. i always dive straight into the questions, and i can finish in time (barely, but i always seem to finish.. if i read it all first, there’d be no way for me to finish in time)

Yeah this and Reading are what I need to work on. I got a 31 in Reading, which isn’t bad, but I guessed on some at the end so I definitely need to speed that up. Some of the literature stories I like and I might spend too much time on, but what do you say about reading since they’re not in chronological order? I can’t help but finish 2 paragraphs and immediately look into the questions to see if there is a corresponding one with the part I just read instead of reading the whole thing. What do you use?

So I just started using this method, and it has improved my reading score from 31-36. Since the questions are not in chronologically order, there’s no way to read and answer at the same time. But, since some questions have specific line reference, you can sort the passage into consumable chunks.

here’s what i do:
- take 10secs to scan the questions and look for parenthesis with line numbers “(lines1-5)” or the word “in line.” This tells me that this question is a direct reference.
- i circle the question and then go to the passage and write a dash mark next to the line.
- i start reading the passage and when i hit a dash mark, i read more carefully.
- after finish reading the line, i immediately proceed to the corresponding question.
- As i read, i answer the line reference questions.
- by the end, I will have finished almost half the questions. Then i launch into the general questions. But by now, since i have read in chunks, digested, and refreshed my memory by answering the questions, i have a very good idea of the entire passage.
- answer all general idea questions

this has worked VERY well for me. The catch is…you have to read very fast. A lot of ppl who i’ve told this to don’t use it because it actually makes them slower, but if you have a reading speed of 80-90 words per minutes, you’ll be fine.
