I scored lowest on the writing section, but don't really know how too improve even though everyone claims how easy it is... I've used sparknotes and they have helped... but not drastically (i got a raw score of 39 on the Jan. SAT for a 61 MC subscore). What is the best way to bump up my writing score?

buy the bluebook and grind out every single writing multiple choice problem in it. make sure you understand why your answers were wrong and why they were right. i would have made a high 500s in writing with my mediocre essay but managed to make a 710 with -1 MC and a 7 essay on the Jan SAT.

i'd say brushing up on grammar skills could significantly help. there are some very helpful posts on CC so utilize the search button :)

Nice, I have gotten a 64 on writing my last two times taking the PSAT and also hope to get into the 700 range, along with my Math. I have always had trouble getting the grammar rules down, like I have no clue what a gerund or participle is and usually just rely on trying to determine if it sounds right or not without regard to rules other than verb number agreement or w.e. I will try the blue book and see if it can help me.

Thanks.

I guess you should study grammar a lot.

Learning a technique for the essay should also help a lot.
