Through the long search & application process, our entire family became increasingly taken with Smith. After the first visit during Spring of D's junior year of high school, along with visits to other targeted schools on the same trip, it was running no worse than #2 and Yale saved D the problem of having to agonize.

But every now and then, I think all three of us at one time or another kept waiting for the shoe to drop, for some unknown reality to intrude and scramble this picture.

Just saying: if you have crossed fingers, others have been there before you. And I hope the students who are now planning their four years, their housing assignments, their major, and all the other myriad aspects of the college experience have a truly wonderful experience.

And I hope that some of you come back to share on CC, like S&P and Borgin.

My daughter has had her likes and dislikes this year as with any new experience -with likes winning out - and tonight she told us her class was having dinner at her Professors house which to me is pretty amazing for a first year and one of those Smith experiences I have been hearing about for a while from other parents and am thrilled she is experiencing so early!

I’d really like to thank all the regular Smith parent and alumni posters. You are all so helpful and kind, and your honesty and sincerity was one part of why I fell in love with, and eventually chose, Smith.

And don’t worry. We’re not going anywhere :D

Thanks, TC. You should know that elsewhere on the board some of us have been referred to as “the Smith mafia.” I’d say more but I need to have a fedora fitted and to pick up my Tommy gun.
