Best/worst college mascots

<p>In tandem with the "Best/worst college names" thread, here's one for the mascots and/or team names. :) I might add more as I think of them, but here's my first list to get the ball rolling. :p </p>

<p>Best: Princeton Tigers, Bryn Mawr Owls, Columbia/Emerson Lions, Sarah Lawrence Gryphons, NYU Bobcats, UPenn Quakers, Williams Purple Cow, Northwestern Wildcats</p>

<p>Worst: Dartmouth Keggy the Keg, Stanford/Harvard Cardinal, Brown/Berkeley/WUSTL/who-knows-how-many-other-colleges Bears, USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins, Vassar Brewers </p>

<p>Mixed feelings: Georgetown Hoyas, Pomona Sagehens, Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, Davis Aggies</p>

<p>I like the UW Huskies, but don’t like the UCSC Banana Slugs.</p>

<p>Best: Bowdoin Polar Bears!, Williams Purple Cows</p>

<p>The Sagehens is Pomona-Pitzer’s Team name. The Mascot is named “Cecil”</p>

<p>^Yeah, I know. :stuck_out_tongue: It’s definitely unique, but it still sounds a bit too obscure and strange, in my opinion.</p>

Weirdest/most sexually provocative: RISD 'Nads</p>

<p>Reed’s griffin mascot is the bomb! Mythological creatures trump bears and wildcats every time.</p>

<p>How could Tigers, Lions or Eagles be the best mascot? It’d be about a 50-way tie! :)</p>

<p>No affiliation with or rooting interest in Marshall U. here, but I always thought the “Thundering Herd” was creative. (And that’s coming from a “Demon Deacon!”)</p>

<p>I think the Anteater is pretty awesome! :slight_smile: Although it would be way way better if it was the Aardvark (Arthur FTW! <3)</p>

<p>Bumping to mention a new fave of mine: Sweet Briar Vixens! :smiley: Foxes are my favorite animal…just one more awesome thing about SBC. :slight_smile: On an unbiased note, Chapman Panthers is another one I’ve always liked. </p>

<p>And to throw out two new “worst” contender: University of Louisiana at Layfayette’s Ragin’ Cajuns and Evergreen State’s Geoducks.</p>

<p>Worst - Western Kentucky Big Red - looks like Grimace’s cousin</p>

<p>I’ve met the kid who is Big Red - love the guy, but the cosutme is a blob.</p>

<p>Apparently, the Vassar mascot is a beer brewer.</p>

<p>On the other hand though, I have to feel bad for anyone who has to identify with being a “Cougar.”</p>
