Worst experience: feeling like I don’t fit in cause everyone else is like in their late 30s or 40s. AND THE CREEPY PERVERTS I’VE MET. ek ![]()
BEST EXPERIENCE: Having AWESOME & SUPPORTIVE professors! SD Mesa helped me so much in discovering my path. AND GETTING INTO UCLA! :)

Hey, at least at Mesa, most of the students are 18-25… I go to City… average age range… 27-90. O_O

What awesome professors have you had whosthis? I also attend Mesa and I wonder if we’ve had the same great professors.

Evan is definitely right, there seems to be a larger group of older students at City. I don’t mind them though. It actually makes class more interesting—especially a class where there is a good amount interaction. I had a critical thinking class filled with younger students and no one ever talked. Honestly the teacher would ask for opinions and there would be crickets. It was awful and really awkward. I spoke up a few times and then every time there was silence the teacher would look at me and I would feel obligated to try and get some conversation started.

On the otherhand, I had a Philosophy class at night with a good portion of “older” students. The class rocked because everyone had something to say and the discussions were normally pretty interesting. I think as you get older you stop caring what the **** anyone thinks of you and it becomes easier to open up.

I’ve had 2 great professors at Mesa- Madeline Hinkes (Anthropology) and Evan Adelson (Sociology.)

Hmmm. . .I bet every cc has a creepy guy who stalks people. Some of the coolest people I met at cc were people 40+ to be honest. Since most of us are going to be working in public and most likely working with oldies and youngies it would probably be to our best interest in not judging people by their age. The real world isnt aged 18-25 after all.
However, I got really annoyed when one lady would always go off topic in my neurosci class.
Yes, she happened to be a bit gray. But I also met a really awesome 38 year old.

I had Hinkes as well. She really was awesome and knew her stuff. The class was so easy. I think I ended up with like a 104 average because of extra credit. I did have trouble staying awake during some of her lectures though.

It’s so funny, because her ratemyprofessor said she was super dull… I loved the class! I never fell asleep
When did you take her?

Holy crap, look at all my fellow SD City students!

I took Hinkes this past Fall. I don’t know what it was but I would definitely dooze off now and then. I felt so bad because she was such a nice lady and I felt so disrespectful but I couldn’t help it.

No way! I was with her this past fall, too! T/Th 11:10-12:35

Yeah I had her at that time lol!

I took Hinkes too! I always had to try so hard not to fall asleep… she’s really passionate about anthropology though.

By the way, ADELSON IS THE BEST SOCIOLOGY PROFESSOR OUT THERE. I love his class.

Professor Joline Bourdages is definitely the sweetest person I’ve ever met. She was the one that introduced me to the wonderful psych major. She’s simply amazing!

Dr. P is officially one of the most important people in my life now that I got into UCLA. Long story, but she helped me tremendously.

I have Professor Fremland right now for chem and chem lab. The dude is unbelievable. He is so entertaining and funny, yet at the same time, his lectures are very clear and easy to understand. I shouldn’t have even bought the book!

@UC Hopeful- SHUT UP! NO WAY! looks around, suspiciously
I used to sit next to this one girl, and we would talk and be on our phones the whole class. I’m a tall, skinny, Jewish kid!
Ring any bells?

and YES - Adelson was the best!

spotted Evan on CC from his phone.
in class none the less.

D:

At my school there’s this guy who looks like he just came out of the revolutionary war… he wears these long boots, vests, pocket watch, hat, carries a backpack made out of cloth and sticks, and even smokes out of a pipe…

then one day i saw him use a cell phone…LOL

Wow that is random hahaha. What exactly does a Jew look like lol? All I remember was this huge dude who always talked and had a huge beard. He was one of those easily identifiable people.

UC hopeful: I HAD FREMLAND FOR CHEM 152 OVER THE SUMMER! He’s hilarious… I loved his “Cheerios with Gin” joke.

theregoesevan: I’m taking my second sociology class with Adelson now cause i can never get tired of his jokes.

omg small world! everyone on CC seems to be from SD all of the sudden!
