what is your favorite & least favorite thing about new york university?! :]

as a lifetime New Yorker, i’m pretty biased, so:

favorite: i’ll probably never take such unique classes ever again. i also like that there are many opportunities to pursue my passions.

least favorite: red tape and how frustrating it can be to get a straight answer from administrators. but that’s the same with any sort of bureaucracy.

favorites: my majors, my professors, the people i’ve met here, the food, living in manhattan, all the cool stuff to do off-campus, the fact that I don’t have to pretend to care about sports…:)

least favorite - my (upperclassmen) dorm is so tiny (way smaller than weinstein), the classes are huge, too much bureaucracy, the administration’s obnoxious attempts to take over lower manhattan and uglify it, it’s ridiculously overpriced.

what are you guys majoring in/what school?
truth: is it possible to double major in two schools if accepted to CAS? (i know they say no, but do they bend it?!:))

I’m in CAS double majoring in chemistry and neural science. pretty sure missamericanpie is in Steinhardt studying Media and Communications (not sure if that is 1 or 2 majors sorry).

If you want to double major in CAS + non-CAS school, I’m pretty sure you have to be in the non-CAS school is. No, the administration won’t bend the rules for you or anyone and don’t expect them to do you any favors, ever, or be helpful, ever.
lol sorry if this sounds cynical, it’s something I learned very quickly!

thanks alix2012, yeah, that’s what i figured, just hoping otherwise ha
was nyu your number one?

yeah, alix is right. you have to be in the NON CAS school and -then- declare the CAS double major. but certain majors aren’t allowed to double major.

media, culture and communications is one major, i know it doesn’t sound like it is. lol. and i’m in Steinhardt.

@missamericanpie, yeah, it is, it’s actually a major i was considering, but wanted something else in CAS and… long story ha
