Maybe someone can answer a question for a friend who is applying to UF for 2008. Does an applicant have a better chance of gaining acceptance to UF if that applicant applies for Summer B instead of for Fall? Did anyone hear any tips like that on their campus tours and talks? My daughter will be a sophmore at UF this fall, and started last year as a Freshman Summer B. She thought it a very good, gradual start to life at UF. This new applicant wonders if he should just request Summer B instead of Fall, maybe increasing his chances of being accepted to UF? He has excellent stats, but maybe not ivy league stats.

Well, UF says that it doesn't make any difference in terms of admission, for what its worth at least.

Although UF says it doesn't make a difference, I think applying for Summer B gives you a slight advantage. Think about from an economic standpoint, UF will obtain more money from you for another semester in addition to your four years.

I don't think that there is any admission's advantage to summer B at UF. The UF literature repeatedly says that there isn't any difference. They have plenty of applicants to fill the spots.

Thanks all for your responses. I will pass this on to the young man who asked this question before he sends in his application.

I just want to say that I have been a "lurker" on this bb for quite awhile, and have gained so much valuable info from you all to pass on to my daughter, a UF Nursing major, and my son who very much wants to go to UF in several years. My daughter will be moving into a Fletcher Hall single this fall.

Thank you all so much for your information and posts, esp. to the "regulars." You are such a helpful resource!
