First Q: Can I get into Carlson (Management School) with a 26 ACT?
Second Q: Will I have a better change at being accepted if I apply as undecided because some schools like School of Education are less competitive?

Okay, first question! The average ACT score for fall 2009 admitted freshmen in the Carlson School of Management was a 29.2. 22.6% of admitted freshmen in Carlson had scores between 24 and 27, while 76.7% had scores between 28 and 36.

While I’m sure you’ve already applied already considering the priority deadline, to be on the safe side, you may have wanted to seriously consider applying to a different college. The College of Liberal Arts would have been a good choice because their average ACT was a 26.3, and chances are, if you don’t end up getting into Carlson as a transfer, they’ll have a major you’re interested in. I can’t remember exactly how the application goes, but as I recall, I don’t think you can apply “undecided” to the U of M. You have to apply to a college, but you can have an undecided major. Which college you start out in definitely doesn’t restrict what you eventually want to do. As long as you get good enough grades and complete transfer requirements, you should be able to transfer to Carlson no problem.
