Better chances and opportunities back home (jobs)?

Hey guys,

So I graduated in June of this year, and I had many interviews over the summer, but received no offers. I was actually considered the top candidate for 2 positions, but since I need sponsorship in the future, the offers were given to someone else.

Then came fall, and I had no interviews in the fall.

Come December, and now I'm about to have my first interview in 3 months. However, I'm thinking of returning home to Indonesia if I don't get this job since my OPT will end in June of next year.

I went to an average school in New York. My internships were mainly in media and entertainment companies, because I'm interested in working in the industry. I worked as an accounting intern for 2 semesters at viacom, and a box office research intern at weinstein (a film studio who made movies such as The Kings Speech, Inglourious Basterds etc).

Apart from my internships, Ive also worked as a teaching assistant at my school for a liberal arts class, and at NYU for a corp finance class that's focused on financing in the entertainment industry.

So my resume is diverse though its nothing special. Considering how competitive the job market is in the US, I'm wondering if I will have an easier time getting a job back home with my current credentials.

Since my internships were in entertainment companies, I mainly applied to media companies here in the US (my interviews were with time warner, marvel, dc entertainment, fox, nielsen etc). However should I open up my options in Indonesia and apply to multinational financial firms and companies, and even consulting firms?

Ive never considered applying to banks and accounting firms in the US, because i don't have related internship experiences. But if I have better chances back home in Indonesia, I'm thinking of applying to boston consulting group, mckinsey, deloitte, pwc, morgan stanley, deutsche bank.

What do you guys think? Worth a shot?

Have you been unemployed on OPT since June? If so, you have violated the terms of your F-1 visa and should leave the US as soon as possible!

Your F-1 visa becomes invalid after 90 days of cumulative post-graduation unemployment.

Haha noo, I’m volunteering and I’ve reported my employment to school.

Thanks for the concern
