Better chances at MS program of MEng

I'm really not interested in getting my PhD, I just want my masters. I was wondering which is easier to get accepted to, the MS program for civil engineering or the MEng program? I am mainly looking at top 10 schools and my gpa is not that high (3.4) so I am not sure if all of there averages online are for PhD, MS, or MEng averages. I do go to University of Michigan so I would think that would factor into my acceptance and maybe my under 3.5 wouldn't be so bad. So would I be better of applying to the MS or MEng progams at say a UC Berkeley, GT, or a Stanford?

I am also in the same boat, I’m not too keen on a PhD at the moment. I am aware that not all the top universities offer non-research Masters degrees. For example, UCB has only just recently been offering the Professional Masters degree in a few select streams. Does anybody know which other universities offer non-research based Masters?

If you aren’t planning to do a thesis for your masters, M. Eng is a better choice. Not sure about admissions rates, though.

bump, I would like a bit more input.

I know, through forums, that some schools offer alternative admission (M.Eng) for people who applied to and were not admitted to M.S. Examples are Cornell, Michigan, and I think Stanford. So it seems like it is easier to get into M.Eng (less competitive?)

I would go to UofM’s civil engineering department and ask that question upfront.
