Well it turns out that after rejecting me the first time, UCSD re-evaluated my application and I got in! I didn't find out in time to go to the Transfer Day, but I did go to the one at Davis and I liked the campus a lot more than I thought I would. Before I got rejected from SD the first time it was my first choice, but now that I've gotten in after seeing Davis I'm so confused and I don't know what to do. I thought I'd find out about the academics - I know SD is a better school but I figured the difference wasn't huge. So what about my major specifically? Which school has a better English major/is more well-known for their English program? If you guys have any info about that or any links to more info please help me out.

(I got into Revelle at SD if that helps or anything, I don't know much about it)

Ehhh. You can’t go wrong with either of them. I have a friend majoring in English at Davis who is thinking of changing majors, if that’s any help.

I’m sure you’ve heard of Revelle and the annoying GEs you have to complete once you get there. I’m not sure on the specifics but you should take that into consideration too :)

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I haven’t done enough research on Revelle to know what you’re talking about . . . please don’t hate me if I appear to be sort of ehh about SD, waitlisted students It’s not like I’m ungrateful that I got into SD, I know it is a great school and all, but I’m not sure if it’s right for me, especially with my major.

Davis is better, ever read the norton anthologies in ur lit classes? Some professor @ davis is one of the editors.

Oh snap! Cool! Norton Anthologies are amazing. I own like 5 of them because I keep buying them for class and then I end up keeping them cause they’re so useful. And now I’m gonna run to my shelf to find out what prof you’re talking about. 'Cause I’m a nerd like that. But thanks for the input!

One of my favorite professors majored in English at Davis and she liked it. She also taught at Stanford before my CC. I don’t think UCSD is as known for their humanities anyway, even though I’m sure they have a good English program also.
