better for finance, Uchicago or Stern?

no way stern's acceptance is %40 . it's close to mid to low %20

nope, in 2007 NYU's acceptance rate was 32% and Stern 2 years ago was like 23%

The acceptance rate doesn't tell much. Take a look at NYU's applicant pool--there's many ivy-league caliber students who use it as a sure safety (thereby inflating the number of applicants)--and masses of weaker high school kids who think undergrad business is their ticket to a life of money and pleasure and could care less about more serious academic disciplines as medicine, engineering, graduate studies (these deflate the acceptance rate). Now this is why there's a world of difference between Stern undergrad and Stern's MBA program. On one hand you have immature, greedy high school kids who ridicule a liberal arts education, and on the other you have serious adults who are working hard to one day lead corporate America--however much they are compensated in their paychecks, I admit, they deserve it.

The masses of weaker high school applicants I mentioned form the core of NYU's undergrad applicant pool, and as such, its eventual incoming class each year. I know a high school in a poor Brooklyn neighborhood of New York where 80% of the kids applied to NYU (and about three fifths of that group to Stern)--most of them couldn't dream of even filling out an app for HYMPS; it's hard for any remotely reputable school to pick even decent students from a pile of hooligans. To make matters clearer: if, say, Yale had NYU's undergrad applicant pool, it's acceptance rate would dip to about 0.5%.

lol...Sergio, you have to be kidding. I can't imagine someone spewing that much BS and actually believing it.

ok...so on one hand..."guys, omg, nyu sucks because its acceptance rate is 40%" and on the other, now that you are proven wrong abut the acceptance rate, "guys, the acceptance rate doesnt say anything".
"greedy high school kids who ridicule a liberal arts education"...i resent that! and so do the other like 500 people on this thread. cc is mainly an undergrad site and most of these people on the business thread are taking an undergrad business education! so, you mean to say that all of us are third rate high school kids who aren't smart enough to apply for "serious academic disciplines" like medicine or engineering? yea, ok, so why don't you shut up and sit the hell down!

sergio..I'm pretty sure no one else agrees with you, or will, no matter what you say. If you think an undergrad business major is stupid, than whatever, you can think that. The top-notch businesses will disagree with you. And in the end, they are the ones doing the hiring...not you. Fact is, IBs hire a ton of business school students (and many from stern too). I'm pretty sure IBs wouldnt hire them if they are as dumb as you say they are.
