better med school acceptances?

Which one is the best school for pre-med or just preperation for med school. Also, which school has highest medical school acceptance rate?:

UT Austin

Texas A&M

Baylor

anybody...

Probably not Texas A&M.

I'd like to differ. I'd probably say Texas A&M. After talking to advisors, they have repeatedly told me that many people get accepted into med school from Texas A&M. In fact, I'm doing Biochem, and 80% of the ppl that take that specific major get into med school. I'm not sure what afruff23 is talking about, but I would definately not believe him/her. All the schools listed have okay-great medical acceptance rates. The okay-leaning towrds Baylor. Hope this helps!

i've heard that UT Dallas is better at premed than A&M.

UT Dallas is more selective, but I don't really know how good are the courses there.
UT austin has a party atmosphere, which is not so conducive to premed studying.

i don't like UT austin. i dont want to sit a classroom with 200 students in it.

Hey afruff, why Texas A&M would have a low acceptance rate to med school?
Is it notoriously "bad"?
I actually heard that since the atmosphere is more boring than UT austin, you would actually be less tempted to party instead of studying.

He asked for the best. I don't know much about Texan universities except for Baylor College of medicine (separate from Baylor University) and Rice. Baylor seems to be the best out of those 3. I didn't say A&M is the worst.

I think Baylor has some good research opportunities compared to those other 2 state schools.
http://www.baylor.edu/pr/news.php?action=story&story=46046

And as well know, research is an important factor in med school acceptances.

UT and A&M

is purdue any good for premed?

baylor is so-so acc to some of my senior pre-med friends but don't have anything specific sorry although its med school program is top-notch; however, it does not give preference to baylor undergrads like say harvard or duke would.

as for austin being a party school, if u take plan II honors or any other honors program ppl tell me it's exactly like a liberal arts experience i.e small seperate classes, individual projects, close network of friends

finally, a&m is like UT, also huge state school but not so much of an honors program..

if ur thinking about applying to places like UT Southwestern or Houston branch then go for UT b/c they do favor ppl from their school

baylor college of medicine has nothing to do with baylor university

what about UT Dallas? i've heard that their pre-med program is better than UT Austin. It's a smaller school so its easier to get a high GPA.

Texas A&M has a good rate. The A&M med school is also very good.

what about purdue guys?

As far as I know, Purdue is good for engineering, but I have no idea how good it is for premed.

UT austin seems to have a good plan II honors, but they will not let me in (statistically) because I'm not top 10%.
I just wanted to know if the Honors college is easier to have a high GPA compared to the normal college.
Also, I might consider University of Houston honors college. Anyone knows about its quality?

I know I shouldn't be basing stats off of www.mdapplicants.com, but I saw that the MCAT and acceptances were on the low side for UT Dallas compared to the other schools mentioned on the OP's list. I'd also like to point out that I definately don't have enough evidence to support this but it may be something you want to look at. Ask the UT Dallas people about their premed program. Of course you'll get a biased response, but maybe the students can give you a better perspective

Boo21, you're right. Even the texas med schools have only one or two UT dallas applicants. I guess its not as good of a school as i thought it was.
