So, here's the deal. I am currently a biological science major at UCI but I am possibly THINKING of transferring to UCLA-- I haven't fully decided yet.

UCLA has always been a dream of mine, so the thought of attending it would be nothing short of amaazingg. UCI was my second choice, and at first I wasn't too keen on going there because of what I heard from current students. But as the year progressed, I came to love UCI for its sense of community and its dedicated and friendly people. So, I was wondering, what makes UCI, in terms of the biology program (and for an aspiring med school student!), more appealing than UCLA? Or vice versa. Should I just stay at Irvine?-- if so, what're the reasons? How is their bio program in comparison to UCLA? How is UCLA's bio program? What is it about their bio program that I should consider when making myself want to stay?

I love UCI, but the possibility of transferring to UCLA is slowly growing in appeal...a thought that never really crossed my mind until recently, honestly. Would it be a mistake for me to try and transfer if my focus is bio? Please help! :(

That is a tough question. I know that UCLA has an excellent medical facility for the medical majors. You will get hands-on experience in their top rated medical facility. It is a trauma 1 center. That means it has the highest level of trauma center designation the American College of Surgeons offers.

Finish your bachelor at UCI and apply for UCLA med school. That's what people do.

i'm in the same situation as you jeni. but i really can't stand uci and have always wanted to go to ucla, so i'm gonna transfer but do what you feel will benefit you best. it looks like you are having a great time at uci, whereas for me i hate it here. Take into consideration of the areas; la is more lively and more things happen and therefore you are more likely to have the best medical experience/ research. where as irvine not so much. but if you are doing fine here then don't transfer. btw what is your gpa right now at uci? because bio at ucla is crazily impacted and coming from a uc to ucla puts us at a disadvantage.

go to less competitve school and get a higher GPA might be better... but im going to UCLA anyways!! bruins!!
