Better than CofC and Chance me?

Is USC better than College of charleston in terms of academics? Also could I get in OOS with a 3.3 UW 3.5 W and a 25 ACT?

I’ve had others get mad at me before with my comments… but as an in-state student, I’ve always grown up knowing CofC is a party school. =/ Anyways, I’m not sure what the actual terms of quality are between the two schools, but I’ve heard that CofC has dramatically improved in quality over the past several years… so this might be why the out-of-state students I encounter think of it as a regular college and the in-state kids still think of it as a party school. (I have nothing against the school. My cousin actually went there and she loved it. She ended up staying in Charleston after graduating too… so I think there must be an appeal of some sort to the school.)

Anyways, a 25 is like an 1150… so I’d say you have about an 80% chance of getting in. [USC Undergraduate Admissions](<a href=“404 page not found | University of South Carolina”>404 page not found | University of South Carolina)

I don’t know how difficult it is to get into USC as an out of state student, but I feel like it should be getting easier… Our state is having cut after cut and without a mandatory ratio, it just makes sense that USC would accept more oos students. When I went on my tour, they also said that there have been points where USC’s freshman class is 50% oos and 50% is, so I wouldn’t think it would be that much more difficult to get in.

I think that they are pretty much equal, both a little better than “average”. The biggest advantage of USC-Columbia is the larger selection of majors and classes, and more of the “major university” feel.

It was actually the lack of a specific major at CofC that eleminated it from my son’s list - they had a general major in the subject, but it wasn’t exactly what he was looking at.
