Better to apply EA or Regular, and when?

<p>I don't have the greatest GPA, and my ACT isn't specatular compared to other applicants. For me to go to Miami, I will need aid/scholarships (BTW - did a financial aid calculator, turns out I should get an ample amount of aid here). So, in order to qualify for those scholarships, I need to bring my GPA up. </p>

<p>I think I can do this senior year, especially first semester in my academics. Should I send it in Regular Decision in late January (which I heard is a BAD thing to do), or go with Early Action in September, and go with my credentials as they currently are?</p>

<p>as a general rule, it's best to apply EA. more money is normally available EA too.</p>
