Hi
I’m hoping to apply Ivy later this year and am a British - Pakistani. I’m wondering whether it would benefit me more to say on my application that I’m British or that I’m Pakistani? I understand that they have quotas for different countries - which one would work more in my favour here?
Thanks
You have to choose the other option when it comes to ethnic group. You have to type that you’re British- Pakistani
If quotas do exist, and just what the numbers are for students from each country at any given college or university are closely held secrets. Don’t waste any energy on that.
Report the UK nationality and use your UK passport when you apply for your student visa. It will help reduce concerns that you aren’t serious when you tell the Visa officer that you do not want to remain in the US after you complete your studies. Remember, if they don’t believe that you do plan to leave, you won’t get your student visa.
Since you’re British, I’d say British. This is your nationality. Internationals are grouped by regions and if your school is in Britain, you’re better off being compared to British students in British schools and Europeans, rather than Pakistani and Indians.
