i've taken the intro to chemistry class (its like half a year of chem, not thorough enough for taking the SAT2 but it gives u an idea of what to expect if u go into AP Chem or Honors chem)..

and i placed into AP Chem but im worried that i wont do so well in it, and I am considering going down to Honors chem. do you think this would look bad? Im going into my junior year and if i take honors chem I wont have any AP's this year.. Is the course that prepares you for the SAT2 in chem (we just call it Chem2) easier than AP Chem? would it be worth the extra work to tough it out in apchem just to be able to put it on my college app? or is it better to have a A- or A in honors chem

for background, i took AP Phys last year after the same half year intro to physics and i got a 5 on the AP, 740 on SAT2, and B avg for the class, i busted my ass studying for AP exam. also i have no plans of applying for AP exemption so i am not considering the 'saving money in college' thing

I got a B in honors chem in 10th grade, then an A in AP chem in 11th and a 5 on the test. Based on your physics performance you obviously have the quantitative skills, but AP chem has a lot of descriptive stuff too. Have you taken biology?

i took the half year intro to bio course but i havent taken AP Bio or Bio2, i was going to leave it till senior year but now im in a spot of trouble

I was just asking to see if you were good at that kind of stuff. The math in AP Chem is relatively easy but some of the subject with acids and bases and other topics I have blocked out of my mind is not very intuitive.

yeah, basically AP Phys was just figure out which formula has to be used and then solve it, now im worried because in AP chem its not just formulas ur also memorizing stuff… basically if u had to guess, how much studying would be required for someone whose not too sure of themselves in chem

Like I said I got a B in 10th grade chem. I studied for like 1 or 2 hours a night for about three weeks for the exam, going through 1 AP review book and 1 SAT chem review book.

Well the first semester was pretty easy becuase it was mostly review, so I didn’t really study at all until the second half. Then I studied for 3-6 hours or so per chapter. Really, all the difficulty is concentrated on whether you can get some topics to just click in your mind.
