Better to submit SAT or ACT, or both?

I took the SAT back in January and made a 2170 (760 CR, 680 M, 730 W) so I was obviously pleased with that. It was better than I expected, so I didn't even sign up for the ACT. However, my mom signed me up for the April ACT (against my will) and I just got my scores back yesterday. I made a 34 with 36's in writing and reading and a 34 in science. I've been told that a 34 ACT is around a 2250-2280 SAT, but is that true? If so, should I submit both scores or just the ACT? I've heard that colleges prefer the SAT and my SAT was still in the 99th percentile... What should I do? Thanks.

PS: I want to major in Spanish and either International Relations or Political Science, so would colleges pay more attention to my reading and writing than math?

https://www.act.org/aap/concordance/pdf/reference.pdf</a> lists the ACT - SAT score comparison. 34 ACT is considered equivalent to the range of 2220-2280 SAT CR+M+W (or 1490-1530 SAT CR+M).

Looks like your ACT score is better than your SAT score.

Yes, your ACT score is better. It seems your mom is doing you a favor. Not only make you more competitive for top schools, it also open some doors to merit aids too. It seems Math is your weakest link in both tests. That would be something you want to work on if considering a retake. Otherwise, you may send just ACT or both scores to most schools except for those that require all scores.
