Better to transfer from CC or go to UCSD as a freshman?

If i go to CC, i can save around $50,000 on tuition and such. I would be able to get most of GEs finished. But I would have to make up some classes for my major and such and probably fall behind and stay and extra quarter or two.
If i just go straight to UCSD as a freshman, I would be able to establish a network of friends, and enjoy 4 years of college life, but have to pay $23,000 per year. What should i do? I come from the middle class. I don't know if that helps or not.

Plus should i go to Warren or Muir?

k, here is my opinion
if you can pay for it, go for the full 4 years…i think it will just end up being a much better experience

also, how are you able to choose between warren and muir?..i thought they put you into the college…like i got marshall, and i dont get a choice
my suggestion is muir though, unless you are doing engineering you might want to think of warren, tho muir is the most chill

anyways, yea i suggest the 4 yr at college if you can pay for it…but if it puts too much stress financially on your family, then CC

i think u can actually choose, i think i’ll go muir instead

it also depends on your major, like they wouldn’t want an art major in revelle

The college should have already been chosen.

For the question, I would definitely go straight into UCSD and do a work-study program as well as win as many scholarships as you can.

The network of friends from college is the most important thing! It can save you from being jobless into having a job at most points :D, plus you get to get around people who are interested in your area for almost the rest of your life.

CC might be a good choice if money is really tight on your family and you.

well if i transfer, i would only have to pay off $40,000 in tuition, and likely won’t need to take on a loan or get a job. Plus it’s really easy for me to make friends. If i like transfer into like Muir class of like 2013, will they know, the students who been there since freshman, i’m a new student/transfer? It’s like having a new student in highschool in your class. Very noticeable.

You’d be one student in a cohort of 6000; do you think you’d notice?

Skyhope, you only have 5 days until you need to have your decision finalized.

And looking at your other post as well, it looks like you are just really really concerned (maybe a bit too much) about the cost.

If you dont want to pay that much, then just go to CC because no matter how much we say to go to UCSD, we arent going to change your mindset about finances. Also, you keep bringing up (in both posts) about why you should choose the other school over UCSD. Right now, I think you dont want to go to UCSD, but you feel like you HAVE to and are just trying to find any sort of reason to get out of it.

…Aren’t you the one that posted the “Chances” thread? You said you were a Junior. In that case, why are you trying to decide about all this stuff so early? Wait until you get your acceptances, and check the financial aid. You never know. Maybe they’ll offer you decent money, and you dont need to go to CC.

And if you’re not a Junior, why post saying you are? -.-;;

is it actually going to affect me whether i get a job offer or not if i go cc?

i actually finally made up my mind that i want to go to ucsd, now its the question whether to go to cc or straight to ucsd as a freshman

No it isnt going to affect what job you get.

In the end, if you go to a CC and then to a college, your diploma or any other forms you have will say “__CC and 2 year ”. It’ll just say whatever school you graduated from.

Take the doctor at UCLA my sister has researched with. He went to a community college for 2 years, then transferred to a low low school then got into UCSF medical, which I can guarantee is harder to get than most other jobs.

i heard like ucsd students had like job offers waiting for them when they graduate

Thats only if you go into one of their specialized programs, which, if those are you stats on the other post, you didnt get.

but still having graduated from ucsd with a decent gpa even if you transfer from cc, it still looks good on job application?

Once again…

if you do go to a community college EMPLOYERS WONT SEE THAT.

They will ONLY SEE WHERE YOU GRADUATED FROM.

The diploma does not indicate that you went to a CC. You’re resume will not say that you went to a CC. Nothing… and I mean NOTHING will indicate that you went to a CC when you apply to jobs.

So pretty much they will only see you’re overall class rank and where you graduated from. Which means, yes… it would

i still can’t decide, like someone please give me some advantages and disadvantages.

Given your other posts including the one pointed out by Mercurial, it’s pretty clear you are a ■■■■■. You do little but ask the same questions over and over again with no apparent progress. No one can make your decision for you. If by now you haven’t visited both UCD and UCSD and preferred one, and if you still think that you can choose Muir at this stage of the process, you should definately go to CC because you are not ready for college.

i made final decision to go to ucsd(but deciding whether to go cc or go ucsd as a freshman), and when you said i do little, don’t understand what you mean, but i been researching and looking through bunch of posts and threads looking for answers, and i must admit, my other threads are bit trollish, but that’s just my personality, i’m a guy who ask a lot of questions and researches a lot and i still believe i can still choose muir,

Take a look at your admissions letter buddy.

It SAYS what college you got into, you CANT CHOOSE. There is no choice except for when you applied and ranked the colleges. And I personally think you should go to community college too… for reasons that dont need to be said.

Let me just put it to you this way:
-You’ll save money
-You’ll still have the SAME JOB OPPORTUNITIES later on
-You wont be in debt
-Etc. etc.

I’m not meaning to be unkind but you have one post saying you are a junior and several implying you are enrolling this year as a freshman. Let’s assume you are in fact a junior, in that case, you can APPLY for Muir in November when the applications are due. Your stats are not great and many people who apply for Muir do not get it, that is the most popular college by far. So you can expect that you may get one of your lesser ranked choices if you get into UCSD at all. Apparently the confusion is arising because these threads at this time of year are predominantly read by people who are already admitted to the class of 2013. There are a few senior members who are alumni and can answer specific questions about UCSD but this is not a general college advisement forum for high school students.
