Sunday, my son arrived at SJO expecting a SuperShuttle van ride to Stanford. The ride was reserved in advance, paid for in advance, and even a tip paid in advance. But the van never showed up. My son called and was told that the shuttle service was too busy and that he should make other plans. Their motto of "On Time, Every Time" doesn't match with reality.

^i think nngmm meant it's hard to carry a lot of luggage with you to take the bart and then the caltrain. i know i'm bringing like 2 huge suitcases and two big bags back. it's gonn abe a hassle to carry that around more than 3 ft, so i'm just relying on SOMEONE to give me a ride.

oh, believe me, it's very doable. I took a train from davis(capital corridor) transfered to bart in richmond, and then transfered to caltrain in less than 4 hours

I fly out of San Jose often, so I can tell you about shuttle vs. train.

Supershuttle is mehhhh but it's the cheapest around. Last I checked, $26 from Stanford to SJC (or vice versa). Usually on time. They recommend pickup like 2 hours before your flight, which is not necessary; you can call them to make the pickup time later, but they will tell you that you are not guaranteed to make your flight (I've always made it). I've had some problems getting back to campus from the airport, though, because they will not necessarily wait for you there when your flight is supposed to arrive; you should call them and let them know you've arrived. Then, you might have to wait to pick up another person, which kind of sucks.

As for the train route, you would take (from campus) the free Marguerite to the train station (~10 minutes), the Caltrain from the train station to Santa Clara (~25 minutes), then the free VTA flyer from Santa Clara to terminal A in the airport (~15 minutes). This is cheap (the train ticket is $3.75, I think) but it does take a while, and it's difficult to do with a lot of luggage. I recommend it, though, to save money.
