There's a lot of talk about ibanking and management consulting on this forum, but there are obviously a lot of other solid oppotunities at large corporations.

GE, P & G, and IBM come to mind as major corporate employers that offer great opportunities and training. Corporate jobs usually provide a nicer work/life balance, but they can't compete with the compensation of prestigious MC firms and just about any ibanking firm. However, many management-track programs at top corporations pay about as much as non-top MC firms.

So I'd basically like to see how other people view the corporate path in terms of its pros, cons, and exit opportunities into other jobs/business school.

I think IB is the best way to get the money but not the best way to live a life, based on what I hear and read about IB.

I'm also thinking about companies like IBM, Intel, Google. I pretty much know right now that I'll hate IB, but of course I'll check it out first through summer analyst programs if I can. I wouldn't mind doing a corporate job at a Fortune 500 or being an accountant at a Big Four. I hear many auditors get a chance to become part of the companies they audit. (Getting to CFO would be ideal.) But basically I'm open to many things in business, not just IB and MC, so I don't pressure myself too much to try to get into that business. I would love to do something in business, but it doesn't have to be IB/MC. That's really it. But yeah, I think corporations, while they don't pay as much, can lead to promising careers, and working for one is something I would highly consider.
