Thanks @Gapyearguru
Thanks @Gapyearguru !
@CaMom13 @NYAndOne thank you! She’s excited about BW. We enjoyed the visit and audition there. Saw their MT production and it was phenomenal. It’s kind of taken the pressure off the rest of the auditions. If you know what I mean ?
@morgan830 - I never actually saw your post about BW, but it sounds like Congratulations are in order! How and when did she receive the great news? It does indeed take off the pressure but keep the energy up!
@FourStars thank you!! She auditioned on campus in November and we got acceptance in December. Decent scholarships as well.
But yes! Keeping the energy up and going for it no holds barred. Lol
She auditioned for CCM last weekend and we have Chicago unifieds scheduled.
@FourStars as to how—- original acceptance came via email.
Anybody hear anything from DePaul/UMinn/CCM/Syracuse/Otterbein?
@NYAndOne DePaul advised at the NYC audition info session they won’t release decisions until mid-March or so. They start looking at files after all auditions are done.
I believe Syracuse is also mid-March and they release decisions for all schools at once. To quote Tom Petty "the waiting is the HARDest part…
@CaMom13 great song! But, yes, I can certainly see the gap (if any) between last audition and first ‘yes’ being an ocean of anxiety. I’m confident that SOMETHING will work out for my daughter, but I can see an emotional seesaw on the horizon.
@NYAndOne - it’s good to plan some projects/activities other than school to fill in the time between the last audition and Mid-March. My D’s “something worked out” didn’t arrive until April 1st. All’s well than ends well but there were some very rough days. TG she was in a show last March - it made scheduling her auditions more difficult, but it gave her something to focus on during that loooong 7 week waiting period…!
@CaMom13 excellent advice… sincere thanks. To this point, she’s confident and relaxed, but I can see that quickly breaking down when there’s no next audition to prep for. Where’s your daughter’s “something?”
@NYAndOne my D was accepted to / is attending NYU in their MT studio (NSB), which is a perfect “fit” for her. So it truly all worked out great but getting there was NOT fun - she had all the bad stuff happen: shut out of audition slots, prescreen rejections, audition missteps, rejections from programs she loved after good auditions. I think I suffered more than she did, lol.
@CaMom13 Yea, I get it. I try to keep reminding myself that it’s not about me. And that, in the absolute worst case scenario… it’ll still work out and she’ll have a good life. Life is made up of many paths, many twists, and many turns. So - NYU!! Very nice! Does she live NYC?
UMinn Guthrie will notify mid-February. Their callback weekend is usually the first weekend in March beginning Friday afternoon and ending Sunday. According to their website, the dates are March 1-3, 2019
She looooves NYC.
@CaMom13 oh, I’m so happy to hear that! Good for her!
Hi! I know everyone is always seeking information about TIMING of notifications so two quick thoughts. 1) I looked back and for Guthrie, my D got her e-mail the week after NYC Unifieds. We learned from asking around that some people get that “quick invitation” and then, after all auditions completed, some more people get invitations. The callback was a great experience.
2) Class of 2023 if you have not already hunted through last year’s boards, you can find a ton of information there. I definitely read the year before us.
3) The Acting Acceptances page for our year includes DATES, so you can see the timing, and how the cards fell for all of us. We shared and cried and celebrated together. Many of us are still in touch. Use this board cleverly but go find something else to do while you are waiting!

@Socalpops - regarding Pace, FTVC does not have a callback and you do not get to see the screen test unfortunately! The other two Acting programs, BFA Acting, and IPE, both have callbacks. I gather since they have the Screen Test, they can review it to their heart’s content.
I just wanted to wish everyone Good Luck at this weekends auditions. We have been super busy on our end trying to cover all of our appts. Only two more weekends to go for us! Thank you to all that have shared their experiences so far!
