BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

@NYC3mom - sounds more positive than negative!

Still trying not to get hopes up. It’s not an offer.

@drama315 I’m trying to see if my daughter’s portal has become disabled as well! Do you mean when you go to the MyIthaca applicant portal it doesn’t recognize your log on information at all anymore? Or does it allow you to log on and then there just isn’t anything in the portal? Thanks for any help you can give! I’m trying to help my child brace for the rejections before they show up in the mailbox if at all possible.

I totally understand that caution @NYC3mom - but that certainly sounds like a hint that an offer is on it’s way!!! Don’t turn off your phone ringer!!!

@loudclappingmom for us we knew there was an imminent “No” when the following displayed after she logged in… “Your myIthaca account is unavailable at this time. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Admission at 800-429-4274 or 607-274-3124.”

@NYC3mom I am going to message you. Check the envelope/message.

@loudclappingmom It allows you to log on and then you see - “Your myIthaca account is unavailable at this time. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Admission at 800-429-4274 or 607-274-3124.”

Thanks so much, @AustinMomof4 and @drama315!

@NYC3mom It sure sounds like great news! Congratulations!!!

@NYC3mom - true, not yet time for congrats. Hang in. Sending good vibes.

S received an email from Evansville last week in response to his thank you email after auditioning in Chicago. Email was from Sharla Cowdan saying they enjoyed his audition and sharing his talent with them. She said to be looking for an email within the next 2 weeks for the next steps. Should we take this as a good sign? Anyone else get this kind of email? S is already admitted academically.

@collegeadmiss My D was called back by Sharla at the ITS Festival in Nebraska in June, so we auditioned on campus for her in the fall during a college road trip. She told us we could expect to hear something back within the next few weeks. We never heard a peep. and assumed she wasn’t interested. A couple of months later, we received the artistic acceptance (we received the academic acceptance when we arrived on campus for the fall audition), as well as a very generous talent scholarship. What a surprise! Since our timing was different than yours, I doubt you will have to wait months, but I think if she is referencing “next steps” then that is a good sign. I don’t know that anyone would word a rejection that way. Good luck to your S!!

Thank you @loudclappingmom. Last week was not good for him after receiving deferral to the BA program for both Rutgers and U Minn so receiving the Evansville email was somewhat hopeful.

I agree, @collegeadmiss - if it were a rejection, there wouldn’t BE any “next steps.” Definitely sounds like good news!

@collegeadmiss My D has received responses to her thank you emails from a couple of schools and a thank you before her thank you email from one. I am just attributing them to niceness vs. anything more. We have not heard results from either of these yet.

None of the emails had info on next steps though, which is different than yours.

@NYDreammom that’s what we were thinking. My S too has received response emails to his thank you emails from all the schools he auditioned for. Evansville was the only one that seemed different. I told my S not to read anything into it other than pleasantries, but now I’m trying to read into it. LOL…

Yes, so hard not to read into everything! At least next week is already March 1, we are getting there! What stressful and exciting months these are, with kiddos graduating too.

Anyone hear of anything happening with UNCSA today? I’ve heard of a number of rejections via email and portal on Friday and one phone call acceptance yesterday, nothing today. We were told by the school people would hear today.

We didn’t check our mail yesterday because it was a busy day of me being with my daughter at an all day dance competition and my son having UIL One Act Play Rehearsal/Clinic and then late last night my son and his girl friend were in a car wreak. Car was totaled, girl friend is ok, but S broke his nose and now will probably not be able to be in the UIL One Act Play (lead) :frowning: However, we just checked the mail and he got his acceptance from Evansville with a very sizable scholarship!!! So excited for him and this helped to raise his spirits a bit from the car wreak.

@collegeadmiss - congratulations on Evansville! But I am so sorry to hear about the car accident! I’m glad they are okay and hope maybe he recovers quickly enough!
