@Bkjroth Theatre Performance

Congratulations! @collegeadmiss

Thanks @penny1234

So wonderful, @collegeadmiss!!

@collegeadmiss congrats!!?? My daughter is going directing. Wish they rolled all these out at the same time. On to the next week!!

@collegeadmiss Congrats to your son on Fordham. My daughter also started out the day with UNCSA rejection as well as Ball State but the day turned around with Fordham acceptance.

Congratulations everyone!

@AUDITIONMGR What Fordham track is your daughter? Did your portals also include the Financial Aid Packages? This so nerve-wracking! So excited for you.

First of all, I would like to extend a big Congratulations to all that have received acceptances so far! Exciting times! So @college admissions and @auditionmgr when did you receive the emails today for Fordham? And to those that have received rejections, its part of the process. Remember that “what doesn’t’ kill us, makes us stronger”! We are all going to be Super Heroes by the time college decisions are done!!

Congratulations to everyone who has gotten a yes. Hopefully those of you without any acceptances yet will get good news soon. Things are getting ready to move quickly.

With regard to UNCSA, the waitlist calls go out after all the acceptance calls are made. So the fact that someone said they got a waitlist call tells me that they are done notifying. Two years ago my daughter also got one of those “very short waitlist” calls. Then at one point maybe a month later she got another call from Quin telling her that they would not be going to the waitlist at all. But last year was a totally different ballgame. I believe they went to the waitlist about five times. What a difference a year makes. If I remember correctly from last year there happened to be a bunch of kids who auditioned and were accepted to Juilliard as well as UNCSA, which is why they took so many from the waitlist.

Congratulations to all the acceptances! So very exciting! My D is waiting to hear from UNCSA, and is having her last auditions at Pace today! She has thoroughly enjoyed the audition process, so I guess she’s pursuing the right career. It’s great to hear all the advice, support given, acceptances, and all. I wish everyone continued success!

BAL at Pace today, @222mom!

We’re still waiting for UNCSA too. We haven’t heard of a single acceptance since the current students said they’d all gone out. I would absolutely love for that to be proven wrong, but after several days with no UNCSA calls reported I’m not feeling very hopeful. It seems like it’s mostly mid-Feb auditioners still waiting to hear. It’ll be really frustrating if we wait until next Friday just for them to send out another round of early morning rejection emails, especially if they already know no more acceptances or waitlists are coming. D’s at a callback week now and she’s already got some acting and MT acceptances that we are so grateful for, but I don’t think she will open herself up to another school until she gets the final word from UNCSA. At this point we just want to hear so she can move forward.

None of the kids at D’s high school have heard from UNCSA. Their auditions spanned from the 1st weekend audition dates in January through the on-campus auditions in mid-February. Assuming all of those will be rejections. Wish UNCSA would just let everyone know.

Congrats on all the Fordham acceptances!! Does anyone know if they notify admits first or do any decisions go at same time (I believe they will be releasing weekly every Fri per what was posted before)?

Also anyone heard from Montclair for Acting either way? I know MT has been hearing per their thread.

@CharacterShoes I’m so sorry to say this, but I’m pretty sure UNCSA is finished sending acceptances. There’s a Facebook group for the UNCSA Drama c/o 2023 with 36 people (6 more than they said they were taking) in it.

Any acceptances yet to Calarts BFA program?

Hello. I just wanted to chime in a little bit about UNCSA acceptances and rejections because I have heard some negativity and I actually feel the way they handle it all is pretty fair, and timely. (full disclosure, my D is a happy 1st year drama student, there, but I try hard to be objective in sharing information here). As has been shared several times on these boards, acceptances go out via phone call right after UNCSA finishes auditions. This year, they added an additional audition on Saturday 2/23. This was an effort to fit in all those seeking auditions and it took them to their highest number ever, about 950 I believe. Then, that night, as reported on this board, acceptance calls started going out. I don’t know when they finished reaching everyone, but at least two people reported, On this Board, getting acceptance calls Saturday night, literally the night after the last audition day! How much faster can you be than that? (Congrats again to @acting2023 and @NYC3mom), and then a WL was reported on 2/26 by @gapyearguru. A few rejections via mail have been reported. UNCSA results are actually one of the earlier for top tier programs, who generally don’t share any acceptances until ALL auditions are completed. I do recall that the rejection letters arrive over the course of 1-2 weeks, and that the pattern was hard to determine (zip code versus when you auditioned) but still are received well before the late March and April 1 dates of some programs.

I also happen to feel that UNCSA runs their auditions quite well. Generally all the auditors attend every audition, rather than single auditors. In our year, Quin and Scott were together each time. I think this year it was all three auditors. I really prefer that, versus the decision being made by one person. Everyone gets their 6 minutes and an interview. They give a kick-ass information session that gets high marks for being really descriptive and informative. BU also gives a killer information session. This becomes important later when you are trying to make decisions.

I am sorry for the long post, but I just don’t like to see any high quality program bashed. We were stuck in the middle category for Ithaca. Acceptances were reported as early as 2/28 on these board and then a ton of rejections and inactivated portals foretelling rejection. And on 3/16 we still had NOTHING. Active portal, no decision. Sure, I asked a lot of questions here, expressed some frustration, but I did not bash the program. Heck we were still hoping to get in. When I finally called, I was told we were On Hold, which is not a formal category, but it is what it is. If it has been an exceptionally long time, you can always call, but I waited 17-18 days.
With ALL THAT SAID, I totally and completely empathize with the anxiety and frustration around wanting to have the information so badly. But try to remember, in many cases, and I know this to be the case for UNCSA, those running auditions are also teaching classes, and directing performances in that exact same time frame. It’s a very small school with a small admissions department unlike say a BU or NYU which have large staff.
Hang in there. Keep the Faith. It only takes one, and there are many alternative paths to a successful career as an artist.

My D has a friend that was accepted to Fordham for acting. No word here still.
