BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

Congratulations to everyone for the great acceptances (and financial assistance too!)!

@OrangeFish Thank you! She squeezed the walk in after having a not so good audition. And that not so good audition that was her first audition that morning out of 4 more she had scheduled. I knew that she needed to shift her energy because it was her biggest day of auditions at LA Unifieds. We took a breather break (visited the MTCA coaching suite), and got re-energized. After her LIU Post walk-in, it boosted her confidence back up and had 6 more auditions because we squeezed in 2 more walk-ins! It was an amazing day!

That’s fantastic @love2share! Congratulations!

@marg928 Thank you!

@love2share Congrats! A full scholarship is amazing!

@dramama3 Thank you!

@love2share Finding the best fit for our kids that would cost the least is a relief for sure. In the long run the training and the experience they make out of it is all that matters. There are so many paths to success (and everyone’s definition is different) that taking the long view puts things into perspective.

Congrats to all the acceptances thus far!

As we move forward, waiting for the final notices to come in, I thought I’d share my S’s journey. I wish I had found CC earlier but it is, what it is. I always thought my straight A son was going to major in Physics or Mathematics or something. After being selected for Adv. Orchestra his freshman year in HS, he decided he was going to major in music. He also became interested in theater but it was just fun. He performed in every fall and spring production. Jr year he performed in Chorus Line and decided he’d major in MT. The same year, his ITS troupe won the state title and went to Nebraska to showcase in the summer. He auditioned for MT scholarships and realized, he was not a contender with the others and decided on acting. His senior year, hIs ITS troupe won state title again and received an acting scholarship. My S is finishing up his senior year performing and directing his final HS musical while waiting for the final schools to come in. It’s been a nail biting experience.

Applied to: Pace (BFA Acting, Acting for film, BA Acting IPE), NYU (BFA Acting), Elon (BFA Acting), Columbia (BA Theater) and Wake Forest (BA Theater)

Accepted: PACE (BA Acting IPE), Elon (BFA Acting). Waiting for the rest.

Only regret is I wish I let him apply to more schools and apply to a few state schools. With the costs of the application and audition fees, I just kept seeing dollars leave my pocket. But after reading some of these posts, he may have had a chance to get a better aid package. It’s not over yet… We’ll see.

Has anyone gotten a letter from Pace yet?

@lorely70 My S is getting one in today’s mail, but our mail has not been delivered yet. ?? Have you received a letter?

@dramamama3 How do you know your son is getting a letter in today’s mail? TIA

Not yet

@BettyBNYC2023 You can log into the USPS and see a preview of what’s being delivered. I get it also as a daily email. It’s a free service.

Wow! Thanks! @dramamama3
I never knew that!

@dramama3 Congratulations ! What program was your S accepted to?

Any movement this week from OKCU? I think they were on break this week. Also, in the past did they notify by
email or portal? My son has had a terrible time getting into the portal–in fact, I think he tried too many times and locked himself out! haha I’ll have him call the help number next week but wanted to see if we’ve missed any action. Good luck all-exciting (stressful) times!

does anyone have any info on shenandoah’s bfa in acting?

@JeanneDArc What day was your S accepted last year? Was it during Pace’s
Spring break? I know their break started on the 11th last year ((:

Looks like you need 15 posts to Private Message on CC, so I am responding here. My son’s Pace BFA acceptance was March 11, 2018. Wishing everybody good news!!

@jrutledge Pace spring break starts TODAY this year! :-SS
