Anyone here in LA for the NYU audition? We are scheduled for Saturday
BAL to your performer @LamaDrama - the NYU audition is usually very fun.
Anyone else headed to UMN Guthrie callbacks? S got an email yesterday. He’s shocked since he was convinced it was his worst. audition. ever.
I got my umn/guthrie callback decision yesterday too. I think they’re sending them out in a couple of waves!!
Yes, my D received her callback yesterday via email. Are you sending your S on his own?
Congrats on all the Guthrie call backs! If my memory serves several families sent their kids solo to the callbacks in previous years and said it was fine, the school took good care of them.
@muttsandMT CalArts family here, and agree with @CaMom13 that it is in the burbs, however, if looking for convenience we have stayed at the following:
Hyatt Regency Valencia
Hilton Garden Inn
Hampton Inn
You will have to drive from anywhere, but these are all within 5 minutes. I would say the Hampton Inn is the closest. Valencia is a nice and clean area and neatly packaged. Mostly chain restaurants. Does have a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s if that is of importance:)
We’re tagging along to UMN. I’m sure he’d be fine, but we’d like to visit the campus and get a feel for the program.
@prarie was in a group I believe, not sure if they partnered - maybe… it was back in Nov and I wasn’t along with her for that one…
@frontrowmama , thank you! My friend actually said, “Wow, she was reading my mind with the Whole Foods info.” LOL!
Can anyone confirm it was Aaron Todd Douglas from UMinnesota and Maija Garcia from Guthrie at their auditions at Unifieds?
@prarie I think BW had a movement portion, but no group scenes.
Hi just a question, did you audition in Chicago for UMN/Guthrie?
@jenl1626 LA,m. Based off the photos we think it was them, but want to be certain!
Has anyone heard back from rutgers regarding callbacks?
@SalahNik the info session we went to at my son’s audition 1/26, the admissions counselor said they send an email to everyone on 2/18 with the callback decision
Not sure if this is the place to post or not and I realize it’s not a program anyone mentions, but my D just received her first acceptance so I’m super excited!
CSULB (Cal State Long Beach) - nonaudition Acting BFA
Fall 2020 is first year for the BFA as they only offered a BA in the past. We have a lot of questions to get answered and will share any info just in case future applicants are interested.
Congrats on your D’s CSULB Acting BFA acceptance!!! That’s fabulous!!! It sounds like it will be a great program! And please do share any information you have. It will be helpful to future applicants.
@MommaCat - Congrats! I’ll be interested to hear what you find out about CSULB.
@MommaCat - I think that’s brilliant. I’ve always liked the LB campus and it’s been on the local radar for acting already so having a BFA program really puts them on the map. The non-audition part may make for large class sizes but it seems like a decent trade off for Cal State tuition and a great location/school. Congrats to your D and definitely keep this forum updated if she attends.
