BFA Acting Class of 2024: Preparation, Prescreens, Auditions, Questions and Support

Call was for Acting at Purchase?

@prarie , yes – for BFA Acting at SUNY Purchase.

Thanks for the heads up @muttsandMT! We haven’t heard anything from them but if we do I’ll let you all know.

At this point, for acting we’re waiting on decisions from Pace and Purchase and if Waitlist status at Montclair changes. For Jazz voice, waiting on one decision and still auditioning for two more next week. S feels not great about current cards bc while he has a number of fine options on the table in either path - they mostly represent his B grouping, and the one of them he’s enamored with is out of reach financially. So it goes. He’s putting a lot of hope on Pace or some of these remaining music programs to work out well. Preferably both, though then comes the challenge of choosing!

@pink313 @anastasiasmom @TimeToFindInfo How does CCM notify? Email? Portal? Call? Snail mail?

Our CCM notification was in the portal.

This was posted on the Musical Theatre thread and thought it would be good to share here especially as decisions come in.

Took a bit to recover from auditions, travel, catching up at work. Finally settled into the March waiting game (waiting on 2 BFA three BA). My daughter has some acceptances, and even had a very early one, which is great I know. And I know there are folks that have none as yet and I am wishing all the best for them. I feel guilty not sharing all the details that some others do, but just not at that comfort level - at least not yet. It is so emotional and personal, and there may be some tough decisions in the end so I hesitate for those reasons. Also, haven’t had anything to add that others haven’t beaten me to the punch on. … just wanted to say thank you to all for the info, and hopefully I can be helpful in the future.

@sagezinnia I totally understand your concern. Sharing too much always leaves me a bit concerned, and yet I’m so appreciative of those that share info so freely. But you need to do what feels right for you and your kid!

@sagezinnia

Everyone shares what they feel comfortable with and the information they feel is relevant to the conversation. All of it is helpful. Many kids don’t want specifics shared so you aren’t alone.

D got her first BFA acceptance to Hartt Acting today. The letter arrived in the mail but after checking her portal she actually had her acceptance Feb 24. She’s a gap year kid so this is a big day for her.

@Abutilon, congratulations to your daughter! Such a relief to get that first acceptance! My daughter is a sophomore BFA acting major at Hartt and loves it. Feel free to PM me with any questions!

If there’s anyone here who applied to LAMDA, have you heard about a recall yet? (Particularly if you auditioned in NYC in February as I think people find out at different times depending on when they auditioned?)

Does anybody know about the acting program at William & Mary? We are in state but have little information. It is a great school academically – not sure if theatre majors need the same stats for admission. There is no live audition – my D submitted video clips of two monologues, two MT songs, her performance resume, and then she had an interview on campus. So far she has been accepted at George Mason (BFA Acting, MT Concentration) and Virginia Tech (BA Theatre). Still waiting on Syracuse.

Hello! Does anyone know of anyone who has gotten into UNCSA? I received my acceptance call last Monday but was curious to know of any other students who received their acceptance. Thanks

^ congrats on UNCSA. Awesome Awesome Awesome place!!!

Does anyone know how many students are accepted at NYU Tisch for Acting?

@2024parentbfa Not including NSB (MT), I think there are about 300. Someone else might have a better estimate. D has a little less than 60 in her studio.

@Abutilon
Congrats on your d’s acceptance to Hartt!! That is awesome!!! So happy for you!!!

@actorcm
Congrats on UNCSA!!! I know there are some parents on here who have kids at UNCSA. @STHmom might be able to help answer questions.

Good news @Abutilon - I am sure that’s one HUGE weight off your shoulders!!! Congratulations to your D!
