anyone who has heard back from Pace on prescreens, how long did it take and was the response sent through get acceptd?
@arkham Yes, My D submitted her Pace prescreen on 10/30 and got her pass from them on 11-5. She got an email to check Acceptd. She applied to the Acting for Film BFA program, so the other BFAs might have different timelines.
@arkahm
Pace replied quickly. The response came through getaccptd but she was notified via email from Acceptd Messaging that there was a message from Pace. And that was for two programs at Pace.
Pace replied quickly to my D too – within a matter of 2-3 days. However, as a heads up, Acceptd Messaging did not send her an email to let her know she had a message from Pace – she only discovered their message when she got a message that another school had sent one about a week later. So be sure to proactively check those messages in Acceptd just in case one somehow falls through the cracks!
Thanks all. They mailed initially that they’d send their reply within five business days and it’s only a few days past that but just feeling eager. Son said he can hold out until after thanksgiving weekend before checking in so I’m gonna respect his newfound patience.
Does anyone know if Evansville is one of the schools that does an early round of artistic acceptances before the winter holidays, or if this has been done there in the past? I’m afraid my head just can’t hold all the possibilities anymore now that my D is auditioning for both MT and Acting programs, lol. TIA to anyone who might have some info!
I hope someone will answer your question. I’ve searched the boards but haven’t seen any information regarding early artistic acceptances on Evansville.
@muttsandMT My D did apply to Evansville and I don’t believe I remember seeing anything about December artistic acceptances. Saying that, she applied regular decision and has her audition scheduled in February. She has been accepted academically, but even the acceptance letter mentioned the need for the audition for artistic acceptance. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
NACAC rules were brought up again on the MT board in regards to a particular school and is worth sharing here because this affects all of the theater programs at this school …
Voice Teacher was replying to MTisNutz, MarciaMarciaMarc and NYYFanNowMTdad in regards to a school that is now stating to the students (via email) who are auditioning that if that student is accepted then they will have 30 days to respond with confirmation that they will be attending the program via letter of acceptance (mail or email). If no response is made within 30 days then that student will be moved to a waitlist. Once enough students have confirmed their attendance, based on the school’s cap for that class, the admission process will conclude and all remaining students who have been admitted will be placed on a waitlist. In the event an opening becomes available in that program they will go to the waitlist.
And just an fyi - this is across all of their programs.
Multiple people have commented on this on the MT thread. The school mentioned above is Western Carolina University. So just a heads up.

@KatMT and @VoiceTeacher are both warm, open people, MT faculty, and active contributors on CC. Perhaps they might have time to share their perspectives regarding a ‘revocable’ offer.
It has already been pointed out such an offer is against NACAC rules. If I recall, there was a discussion of this gun-to-the-head approach in last years MT thread as well.
IMO, if the program isn’t willing to abide by the rules all are supposed to play by, what else might happen once you enroll? Seems more apropos of a used car salesman than a reputable MT recruiter.
Best of luck with this sticky wicket.
And Voice Teacher replied below …
There is currently a one-year moratorium of enforcement of the May 1st rule due to an investigation from the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice. The division has been really going after professional organizations in the last few years. So technically the rule is unenforceable. Start with the program head and go from there. If they are rigid and refuse to compromise, its probably not a good fit.

Has anyone heard back from University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) regarding prescreens submitted for the January audition dates? Thanks!
Thanks for your replies, @anastasiasmom and @BFAMom2024 ! . My D auditioned for them earlier in the fall and she swears they said she’d know something in two weeks. I told her I didn’t see how that was possible since they are a school that has a lot of auditions on their schedule and they told my D they aim to matriculate a class of only 12! I think she must have misheard them about the two weeks thing, but her acting teacher said some schools will say that early on in the process and then realize it’s unrealistic. @BFAMom2024 my D has already been accepted academically too…I guess we’ll just continue to be patient.
@jbtcat if you don’t hear back from U of AL soon, I would contact them. D auditioned last year, and heard nothing after they viewed her prescreen. Two weeks before December audition- crickets. Seth misspelled D’s email address. Lovely people. Beautiful campus. And they are building an insane arts facility. Good luck.
Thank you @yellahamma ! I will definitely contact them (and I agree with all of the things you said about the school)!
DD just passed prescreen for Depaul so she’ll audition in NYC along with Carnegie Mellon & Fordham. She’s trying to decide if she wants to audition for UNCSA. In George Mason for Theatre & auditions for Va Commonwealth this Friday. We live in Virginia.
Huge congratulations on your D’s DePaul prescreen pass and on Carnegie Mellon!!! Awesome news for sure!
Break a leg at the audition on Friday!!!
Break a leg to everyone heading to an audition this weekend!!!
If anyone is auditioning at Alabama for acting, what are you doing for your 30 seconds of movement? Thank you!
S & D applied to several acting BFAs within the last 7 to 10 days. D heard back that she passed Pace and Depaul prescreens. S has not heard anything. Do schools tell you if you do NOT pass prescreen? Thanks in advance.
@MomoftwinAT - yes, schools do tell you when you don’t pass prescreens. Congrats on your D’s passes and I hope your son gets good news soon.
Wow! You are doing this times two! Congrats to your D on hearing back from Pace and DePaul! That is awesome! And hopefully you S will hear good news soon too.
