thank you so much and congrats to your daughter!
I’m sorry to hear that. My D was waitlisted at Northwestern. Like you we are focused on JMU for MT as a top choice. We are going to visit in a week.
My D was also just accepted to the Corcoran School for Acting at George Washington U. Is anyone familiar with this program?
The waiting is sooooooo hard. Hang in there😊
Congrats!!! We used to live in Chicago - such a great city!
thank you so much for the info! I’m currently on the waitlist and sent in a LOCI immediately.
So as one of the many on here befuddled about Syracuse approach to announcing decisions, we have resorted to trying to read tea leaves. There are lots of posts, for example, expressing views that only wl and rejections remain. However, while I have seen a fair number of BFA MT announcements on here, I have only seen a couple of drama announcements and they all seem to be boys. Is it conceivable that the majority of Drama acceptances haven’t been delivered yet? Have any girls there in CC land received their BFA Drama acceptances?
My son was accepted to, dont remember why he applied! Got an email yesterday about an arts scholarship that was impossible to find on their crazy portal. Did you ever find any helpful info?
My daughter received an acceptance for BFA acting at Syracuse on 3/19. I think she knows of another girl also who heard at the same time. I know of several who haven’t heard anything yet. Fingers crossed there are more acceptances to come!
I would also love to know. My child has been accepted to other prestigious BFA acting programs and is graduating at the top of his class academically. Syracuse seemed a perfect fit, but we’ve heard nothing.
Has anyone been accepted into a Syracuse BFA program but Is still without an aid package?
My daughter received an acceptance from Syracuse last Friday for the BFA in Acting program. She was ecstatic. However, her acceptance letter did not mention any Merit Scholarship, though she has received it from almost every other school to which she was accepted. From what I have read, any merit award would be in the letter, so I’m assuming she didn’t get any. The Financial Aid portal still says “No Financial Aid,” but I read that sometimes does not come out for 7-10 days after the acceptance letter. Unfortunately, with 3 kids in college next year, we can’t afford to borrow that much money, so unless there is some kind of award, she will have to decline. It really is a blow.
I just want to commiserate. It’s so tough! My D got into BoCo CT and is in in love with the program. No merit scholarship, despite the stellar grades, and no FA package yet. I can’t imagine it will be enough to make it possible, but I’m crossing my fingers.
Yes - so my D got a Corcoran scholarship too and spoke to the head of the theatre program for awhile tonight. It sounds like a terrific program and lots of opportunities to perform all throughout your 4 years. The faculty are very connected in the DC theatre scene. Her hesitation is trying to figure out how to put together more of the music theatre part of things. You can take voice and dance and they are willing to work with that but it’s not a MT shop obviously. Great school and location!
We just got ours from BOCO. The FA package wasn’t much, just the standard student loan. My D did get a small Merit.
(BoCo) Thanks for the commiseration!! Very much needed right now… :-/ Just curious, did you get a separate email about finaid and was it an actual spreadsheet of some sort? My daughter’s portal just looks very incomplete: just a list of 3 docs (a link to our actual Fafsa form, a loan counseling link and something else), but no mention of the actual loans themselves. It doesn’t sound like we can expect much but still wondering if something is still pending…
Did they ask you for verification? I am just wondering the turn around time on that.
Mine looks the same. I sent an email and she replied that my D would get an email by end of week, and that she had “some need based aid” but idk if it’s just the federal loans from fafsa.
Yep it was an email with like two lines of a spreadsheet.
(Syracuse BFA Acting) We are also hoping to get some merit aid from them. S was accepted on 3/19. We are also hoping to visit the campus in April, even if we can’t have an official tour.
Fingers crossed for your son @SuddenlySeeMore! Someone on another Syracuse thread told me that any merit award will be listed in the decision letter. She spoke to a counselor who told her that, so I assumed my daughter was out of luck. Do you know of anything different? I would love to have some hope.
