BFA Acting Class of 2025: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

Thank you all! That’s reassuring to hear!

Hello everyone! Quick question - does anyone have an idea of the size of Fordham’s acting program?

Very small from what we understood. 10-12 maybe?

FYI: UConn wants 12. They say they usually accept 20 to 25 to get 12.
Anybody audition there and hear back yet?

My son had his 1st audition today with Ithaca (BFA Acting) and same – did his 2 monologues and that was that. I know they have a lot to crank thru so perhaps they are just staying on schedule. JMU audition (MT) was much more chit-chat/interview “why JMU” and friendlier. Anyway, good luck to all!

Great, noted. Thank you for the response!

Fordham looks to enroll 40 students each year in their class ‘which usually includes 24 actors, 12 designers and stage managers, 2 directors, and 2 playwrights.’ (My daughter was accepted last year and this was the info in her acceptance letter.)

Did the academic acceptance to Pace come as an email? Update to portal? We are still waiting for that part…just curious! TY!

She applied early action, and received notification through an email that, I believe, directed her to the portal. It would have been late Nov./Early Dec., but I can’t find it now. She was also accepted to the Honors College there, so that may have also had something to do with the early notification. She had auditions for the BFA Acting and the BA Theatre- International Touring a couple of weeks ago. She was told she was “called back”, though there was no additional audition, but another group zoom meeting where they were told that would either accepted or waitlisted. No word yet on that. Best of luck to yours!

Was the “callback” on another day? Was it for BFA Acting or BA Acting or both?

This is so useful, thank you!

Hi, did your son play the music from a different device than what he was using for the audition (e.g. played music from a phone while auditioning via computer)?

My son had Uconn this weekend, they were very nice. He played the music on his phone. He was going to use a speaker but there was an issue so he just used the phone audio and there was no issue.

Awesome, thank you so much!

New to the site---- this audition process is a heart attack!!! My daughter got 17 auditions, and is about half way through … not knowing anything is awful. She’s gotten passed over on a few schools, which is emotionally draining, and is still waiting on 7 schools to respond to prescreens (the CA schools are later than the East Coast and Mid-West schools). Crazy process!!

Yes, this is probably the most overwhelming and exhausting thing we have been through, and I am a doctor! My S had NYU today which is his last “real” audition. I hope some day to look back on this as the beginning rather than as pain.

My D did NYU about 3 weeks ago… she felt it went ok… really it could have been good or bad— she did well (we listen through the door) but it was one reviewer, and this lady was a doozy!!! In the interview she was very confrontational - asked my daughter about her ethnic background (our last name is Cairo), and was kind of mean-sounding… have no idea if the lady hated my daughter or just had that “NY” edge to her…

Ha! My son banishes us to a place in the house where we cant hear each other! My S also said they asked him alot about his story and had an interesting conversation, his experience so far ha been that you cant tell from the interview which way to goes, no way to know until you hear. Good luck to your D!

Hi! Are you saying your D heard from Pace during the audition that she made it to the next round (waitlists or accepted)? Sorry just wanting to clarify and it’s my S first choice!

Thanks!

Anyone heard back from USC yet?
