@ginaf1102 fantastic!!! Funny about Annette benning. Another fun fact is Uma Thurmanā€™s and Ethan hawkeā€™s daughter is a second year student there. She was going to be at UNCSA accepted students weekend but cancelled when she found out she was going to Juilliard!

Congratulations! Your D must be extremely talented and have really wowed them!!!

@bfahopeful thanks so much for the explanation Makes sense considering @ginaf1102 has a daughter going through her callback (right now) and itā€™s exactly 20  Iā€™m sure it varies.

Oh, wow, @ginaf1102!!! That is wonderful!!! Congrats to your daughter!

Amazing accomplishment!!

I need to correct my above post saying Uma Thurmanā€™s daughter attends Juilliard. She did attend for first year but not sure she still does. She is in Little Women and Juilliard wonā€™t let you miss school for any reason -so not positive if she left to film or not.

What auditions does everyone have this weekend? My D has Juilliard today, and my S has Pace. BAL to everyone!

@actorparent1 You have two at opposite ends of the city! How do you do it? #amazing #parentoftheyear
My D has Fordham today. Sheā€™s still flying high from yesterday. She basically had an 11 hour audition and the greatest masterclass ever!

BAL to all today!

@ginaf1102 ,thanks! D is going to Juilliard by herself (we live in Brooklyn and she goes to high school in Manhattan, so she knows where it is), while I go with S to Pace. Next weekend sheā€™s doing Pace while I drive S to Montclair. (Weā€™re finding itā€™s better when they donā€™t audition at the same time, even though itā€™s a little more inconvenient!)

Iā€™m so glad your D loved the Juilliard callback!!! Crossing fingers and toes that she gets to callback weekend and gets in! BAL at Fordham!

@actorparent1 weā€™re headed to DePaul for an 8am-2pm Audition today here in Chicago ( long audition!) @ginaf1102 Iā€™m incredibly excited for your daughter!! sheā€™s on a Roll  BAL! What a feel good moment for you (and the rest of us cheering everyone on) @actorparent1 BAL at Julliard!! hope to hear great news

@actorparent1 I didnā€™t notice that you had 2 auditioning! How exciting it is to have 2 artist BAL. May both of them get where theyā€™ve always wanted to be

USC yesterday and UCLA for our S this weekend. The USC acting dean gave an intro spiel and mentioned that their BFA acting program accept 20 out of 1400 who audition. BA accepts around 100. The auditor for USC, who is also one of the lead professors for BFA and MFA gave a brief intro of herself and said most students in the program know her as simple the ā€œB**** on Wheelsā€. Caused some nervous laughter. UCLA today will have an intro, movement, interview, and performance. USC had said they would only have performance, but had a brief 1;1 interview as well. Mostly softball questions. Had Pace last weekend in NYC for both of the acting BFAs. Didnā€™t make the movement workshop callback partway through the audition for BFA acting ā€” they seemed to be inviting around 3 out of each group of 12. BFA FTVC had fewer auditioning and didnā€™t have a cut, so I guess weā€™ll find out by March. It seemed like a better match for our S, and he liked the students hanging out with the applicants in the green room. We did receive a follow up call from the department a couple of days later to assess interest in the program, which pace said they would do. It seems that pace communicates pretty regularly with its potential admits to give them more certainty about yields.

Has anyone who auditioned for UNCSA on 1/14 received a ā€œno longer under consideration letterā€? I thought Bill Poole said they would go out late last week. And do any other schools do that?

@dramamama2022 I could be completely wrong, but I think UNCSA starts notifying ā€œnoā€ decisions by mid-Feb. In the past all have had a decision from them by early March whether yes, no or waitlist. However, with the new dean of drama, things could be totally different this year.

Hi All, Iā€™ll ask my son about his Audition at DePaul today.

I can tell you that their Theatre School is AMAZING and I was reminded of this when walking in to register for auditions this morning. The Theatres downtown and the Theatre School are both outstanding and so are their works that they produce every year.

If you are in the city auditioning, they will give you free tickets to catch a performance and I havenā€™t seen one that wasnā€™t good from each year that Iā€™ve checked them out. Itā€™s interesting that my S schools have always taken elementary school-aged children to see a show downtown and I never thought about them being students from DePaul. Their other programs (Tech, Costume, Directing, stage design etc) are just as amazing. Today I saw about 18 MFA applicants for directing/tech/theatre etc while the BFAā€™s were being split into two groups. The students are filmed so that they can fit a face to the applicantā€™s file, nothing more. Youā€™re also given a sheet with a variety of plays used during the audition. Iā€™m not sure if heā€™ll get in but If I were him, Iā€™d take a hard consideration if itā€™s one of his choices to go even if it means that he continues to live here in Chicago and we negotiate on dorm or not considering we live 10 minutes away :/. Not only do they give out Need-Based and Merit Aid in Addition to, they give up to $30K in Theatre Scholarships to each accepted student to help curb cost.

@dramamama2022 I know that Guthrie sent ā€œno longer in considerationā€ emails after NY Unifieds as my daughters friend got one. My D got ā€œyou are still in consideration will send out callbacks after Chicagoā€. I did not even know about this interim mini-cut. This is a crazy and often merciless process. My daughter is at home trying to catch up on mountains of school work and trying to stay well for Chicago. Our Chicago schools are UNCSA, CMU, BU, U of Arts and I canā€™t remember !
It hadnā€™t even occurred to me that the likes of Annette Bening and Warren Beatyā€™s child would be doing this! That kind of freaks me out. Donā€™t really have the ā€œtheyā€™re just like usā€ feeling about that but I LOVE her work. Amazing actress!!
Major congratulations @ginaf1102 ! What an accomplishment !!

Hi @Laylamo Weā€™re doing UNCSA on 2/4 and CMU, BU and several others during the Unifed week. It occurred to me that Annette Benningā€™s daughter and any of those other high profile actors with kids auditioning, may have a foot in the door if they are making a Sizable donation. If so, that means that the selection pool was just reduced but no pressure haha

I hope our paths cross! Look for a very tired, disheveled middle aged woman looking perpetually confused and a pretty young blond girl. That should narrow the field haha.

Indeed- Iā€™m sure the Bening- Beatty kid has a bit of a different journey. Not to mention the annual givings. Ahhhhh such is Life :).

@laylamom - Guthrie does the callback weekend in late Feb - and I believe they make cuts after that also! (Maybe someone who knows better could chime in.) Congrats to your D! S is dealing with the same pile of homework and semester finals this week. Not sure how weā€™ll get thru unifieds. He has rehearsal M,Tu,W evening, after each long day downtown.
@ginaf1102 - congrats to your D on Julliard progress! It sounds much more intense & competitive than many other schools. (Probably like NYU, CMU and a few others). She must be brave & talented.
@actingdreams - Thanks for the DePaul summary. I also would like to see my S get out of Chicago, but it would be too good to pass by if he happens to be accepted. BAL to all on the audition circuit!

@Atreuh Guthrie makes decisions during callback weekend and notifies very quickly once that weekend is over. Maybe within the week or so.
