Hello! Please does anyone know anything about the format of the audition at UNCSA on campus? We are planning to go, but trying to figure out if it is a long day / short day, for arrival and departure planning. Thank you!
My daughter says itās a short day: Mandatory meeting and then individual time slots. No callbacks. In our experience, lots of schools consider proximity in assigning individual time slots; but I would certainly contact them and request an early time, if say, you need to catch a same day flight. We have had to do this a couple times. Let me know if you will have time to go out to eat-I have some restaurant recommendations
FWIW, UNCSA Design/Production (theatre tech) interviews are full-day and include campus tour. I know this will be different for acting students, but if you havenāt toured the campus, it might be worthwhile to ask admissions to schedule one for you while you are there. Behind the scenes of different departments is really interesting. They also almost always have a running production, so worth it to come in for a performance the night before, if you can.
Applied Julliard, Chapman, Tisch, Pace. Passed prescreens. Chapman live next weekend. Julliard and Tisch in January. Pace have not scheduled yet.
Re: UNCSA, which airports are possible? It says Charlotte is 62 miles, is that an easy hour drive or a lot longer? I see the Greensboro one is really close, but trying to find a cheap flight, otherwise it is about 8.5 hours in the car!
@FourStars Charlotte is an easy drive to Winston Salem. Yes, Piedmont Triad (Greensboro) would get you way closer- but if itās a matter of a couple hundred dollars, I would fly into Charlotte.
@swimgirl1 My son is auditioning at Chapman next weekend too for screen acting. Break a leg!
Right back at him!!!
For UNCSA we have done Charlotte, Raleigh and of course greensboro.
Raleigh and Charlotte have better deals but they are about 1.5 hour drive (Charlotte is a little less than that). Greensboro is about 20-30 min away. Small regional airport.
And yes to what @owensfolks said for UNCSA drama auditions. Both on campus and those in other cities are run the same. They have morning or afternoon blocks. Each block starts with a group info meeting. Then you have individual audition and short interview. About 10 min. They will say āmeeting at noon and audition at 2:00ā (for example). So you will know approximately how long you will be waiting. Meeting is about 30-40 min i think. Maybe an hour. Like all others, they can run ahead or behind schedule so donāt stray too far.
@bfahopeful Are the group meetings for Parents too? actually,
Yes. Both kids and parents go to the group meeting. It was one of the best info meetings we went to. It is also part of what sold my daughter on the school. She really didnāt understand the intensity or offerings prior to hearing the faculty speak.
Hm, my daughter just got her appointment e-mail for 11:10 on Jan 28th on campus. It does not mention the meeting. Maybe we should call to clarify? I need to make travel plans for that, itās an 8 hour drive, unless I find a cheap flight.
@FourStars We also got an email with an audition time but no mention of a tour or information session. I emailed them to ask if those will be available that day. Iāll let you know what I hear.
Perhaps they are changing it this year. Pretty sure when we got the audition time it clearly had a meeting time too. Sorry i donāt know more.
Has anyone had any experience with applying to Millikin? How quickly was the turnaround from when you applied to when you were notified of academic acceptance? My D submitted several weeks ago and still no word. There was an issue with them misplacing her SAT scores, but I called two weeks ago and the woman said they had them and she should get an email within 5 days. UGH. I donāt want to call again, but this is the last thing that we need to schedule an audition for.
hi! would you mind sharing how long your emerson audition was? Iām attempting to squeeze one more audition for a school my son was already admitted in academically and just found out they are doing auditions here in Chicago (4 minutes) on 2 days that he has 2 scheduled for. I was hoping since heās already there, he could get into this audition between the two or if emerson is not a long one, try to plan for a late afternoon audition for his accepted school Thanks!
Marymount decisions from the first audition on 11/20 have been received by some. My D was accepted for Acting with a small Arts scholarship. Hoping some other friends get good news. If not, remember it only takes one.
@FourStars Congratulations to your D! What a wonderful feeling to have a check in the accepted column.
Congratulations to your D, @FourStars! How nice to get an acceptance this early!
Yay! way to to @FourStars.
