BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

Wow big congratulations @MTmom2017 that is fantastic : )!!!

My D finally saw her email from UMich, and she was totally fine with the rejection!

Congratulations @MTmom2017! That is wonderful!!!

Did you hear from Elon? My daughter is still waiting. Thanks!

@MTmom2017 - congrats on Ithaca! Great news!

@jbtcat Yep, that has been true for us so far, except Michigan :frowning:

Also, early interest, I would say. My D got into her first two auditions and application schools: Elon and Illinois Wesleyan (Early action and the first set of auditions for ELON on 10/21 (admitted 12/15, but didnā€™t find the email until after Christmas! LOL!) and the next week an individual day tour/admission etc. at Illinois Wesleyan (early December with a nice size fine arts award that makes it very hard to say No). Its been all strike outs since then: DePaul (she got her ding letter after prescreens while she was sitting AT their open house dreaming of being onstage, ouch); Guthrie (after what she thought was her best ever audition and where the female auditor gave her a thumbs up after her song); and now Michigan.

I am defintely seeing the plus of the ā€œearly bird gets the wormā€ and ā€œdemonstratedā€ interest and the ā€œbring itā€ approach to a few schools early Senior Year and then maybe just take the first offer(s) as the best ones? Idk. Its so so hard not to go for all the big big names.

My D is so much more courageous than I ever was at 18.

@mychildsslave Please send your Dā€™s karma my Dā€™s way. She hasnā€™t seen anything yet and Iā€™ve decided to let her find out on her own, but she has a very BIG IMPORTANT performance on Saturday and Sunday (opening Saturday) so I really want her to just look, feel it, and move on soon.

My s checked his portal and itā€™s a no for Michigan too. For those feeling bad about not auditioning on campus- we did audition on campus (and did visit the school prior to that). Oh well.

@Noreplays2018, Iā€™ll definitely be sending good vibes! These kids are tough!! I was certainly surprised by mine.

@MomofJ5 Iā€™m sorry. I am curious was there another stipulation such as applying late in the game. We applied to UNCSA 2 days prior to their cutoff and of course we were rejected but maybe we didnā€™t show as much interest. The good news is that itā€™s not over until itā€™s over and Iā€™m sure you have some even better acceptances coming your way

@actingdreams my D applied to UNCSA a couple of hours before the deadline and was on the waitlist. I donā€™t think that matters at all.

@marg928 thatā€™s great! I was trying to make a point that perhaps there are other layers depending on the school ( some want you to visit, others may look more at their earlier applicants) We may not ever really know. We just know that we either were accepted or rejected. I hope that you D gets off of the waitlist if itā€™s one of her top choices

Lots of tears in our house tonight over the UMich rejection. But an hour later, D is plugging away at her English essay due tomorrow. Building up resilience for this life. She visited Michigan in the summer, got her application in relatively early and auditioned on campus. The odds are just tough. Thankfully for her peace of mind she currently has 3 acceptances. Itā€™s going to be a long wait till she hears from them all at the end of March.

Maybe I should be Captain Obvious here but am stumped. Auditioned for Ithica at Chicago Unifieds. Acting, not MT. Nothing yet in snail mail or in e-mail but when checking portal on myithica.edu, in the column which lists all the items received, the very last listing is ā€œaudition results.ā€ Thereā€™s no message waiitng under Account. Thereā€™s been no communication whatsoever. Given that it says that audition result is in, and I donā€™t know when that was included in list, Iā€™m assuming that this means a denial. Does anyone have insight? Thanks!

@actingdreams - He applied to Michigan mid-October. Not late at all. The problem with visiting the school and auditioning on campus (in addition to the financial investment) is that the school felt familiar/comfortable. I fell in love with the school. I totally saw my S there.

We have heard nothing from anyone. D auditioned for 7 schools in NYC. No calls, emails or letters of any kind. Is anyone else having the same experience? Any similar experiences or thoughts from those who have been through this before would be most welcomeā€¦

@blessedgirl3 I would NOT assume that it is a denial. I do not know for sure if there is another spot where you can see your decision on the portal maybe someone else can speak to that. But there have been several posts on here in the last week or so that say that those that are denied from Ithaca their portal is shut down. So I would think you still have hope, that either you are accepted or waitlisted. BAL!

@blessedgirl3 - donā€™t give up there, on Ithaca! Those of us who received the skinny envelope (ā€œregretsā€) noticed (a few days before the letter arrived) the portal went blank, with a message: ā€œYour myithaca portal is no longer availableā€ā€¦ The list was gone. If your list is there, thatā€™s a good sign!

@breakingbarriers2018 what are some of the schools your D applied to that might help narrow things down. There are schools that people on the board know have definetly notified, notified some or not started notifying and we could better help if we knew what schools you are waiting on.

Also has your D checked any of the schools portals? Sometimes the notifications seem to come in the portal or sometimes there is a notification in the portal that something is missing.

I think she is too scared to look! She has performances this weekend but perhaps she would let me look. She auditioned for BU, UNCSA, SUNY Purchse, DePaul, CMU, CalArts, and Pace BFA. It seems like many have heard from UNCSA and Pace.
