BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

At NYC Unifieds, the gentleman leading the info session said there is no waitlist for acting–just MT. Did anyone else hear this during their session? Catherine Weidner wasn’t there because she had to go back to Ithaca for auditions, so Steve TenEyck spoke to parents. Just want to be sure I heard him correctly.

My thought is that no news means there is still the possibility of an acceptance. But. . . if several days pass after people start posting about acceptances and rejections, it may be time for your child to check their portal to make sure they turned everything in and then call to politely ask if they are still under consideration. As to whether you should apply early or audition on campus, I say don’t drive yourself crazy speculating because there are so many factors that we will never understand. I do think the on campus auditions are more informative and relaxed and give both sides more time to make a decision. That being said, I know a very talented girl who did all of her auditions on campus a few years ago and wasn’t accepted to any BFA programs. On the flip side, cmy D auditioned for Michigan in NYC this year and was accepted.

@dramamama2022 Did your D find out today she was accepted to Michigan? That’s amazing!!! Congratulations!! I was beginning to wonder if they accepted anyone!

Congratulations @dramamama2022! Nice to see several acceptances for Michigan, ithaca and Uncsa. I’m assuming the 2022 group is just a small percentage of the entire applicant pool yet there are so many acceptances

@dramamama2022 Congratulations on Michigan! That’s wonderful news. Enjoy the moment.

@blessedgirl3 Hi. Re: Ithaca, we have the same situation as you. Portal is up and has everything and yet no acceptance or rejection, and my D auditioned in December on campus. I’m no expert but from information received from others your portal goes blank when they mail the rejection letter. So I guess we are in limbo. I may call Friday if no change. Hang in there.

@breakingbarriers2018 hi there. I feel your frustration. From your list, the only school that has communicated acceptances and rejections in UNCSA. Pace has a few special acceptances but most have not heard if I am up on things.

Thanks, @mychildsslave, @actingdreams and @FourStars! My D found out she was accepted to Michigan last night. Thanks to @mychildsslave for the heads up that decisions were on the portal. My D and husband roll their eyes when I say "I heard on CC . . . ", but now they see the value in the time I spend here. This is my D’s first acceptance at a school that “feels right”. It is especially sweet after hearing no from DePaul (after Prescreen), UNCSA, Ithaca and Otterbein. She (and I) were beginning to think we’d made a mistake with our list and had even started talking gap year. Now we’re waiting to get the details in the mail to see if we can make Michigan work financially. Another BIG hurdle!!! Fingers crossed for all of our kiddos, especially those still waiting for their first yes.

Congratulations, @dramamama2022 !

Congratulations, @dramamama2022! This is so awesome for your D. And I am also happy to hear on of our own got in! Yay!! Let’s hope the financial aid dollars rain down on you and your family.

@Boilermom, @Atreuh, @FourStars: Appreciate your comments. Thank you! I’ll try to wait, ahem, patiently.

@dramamama2022 Go Blue! Congrats on UM.

@FourStars I will keep you updated. My D did audition for both acting and MT. Thrilled for the kids who already heard. Waiting is hard. I now have become that person waiting to hear the mail truck come up the street. How did this happen? :))

@dramamama2022 Michigan is an outstanding program from everything I hear - academically and artistically. She should be very proud of herself. And again, we see students can get accepted one place and rejected many others, so thank you for putting it in context. I hope the financial part of the puzzle comes together!

My son was accepted at Miami University in Ohio for Acting. Does anyone have experience with that acting program or know anyone who does? Thank you!

congrats @dramamama2022 !

@dramamama2022 congratulations to your D on UMich! What an amazing program!

@dramamama2022 Congratulations again!! You must be so proud!!! Thank you for sharing your story! So encouraging to hear for those of us who are still waiting to hear back!

@actingdreams I’m a lurker from last year. My D did not end up with an offer and is currently a freshman at LMU. I’m enjoying following everyone’s journey this year especially my friend @FourStars. I will take the credit for introducing her to CC!

@dramamama2022 - Congrats to your D on Michigan! Especially encouraging to see a welcome YES after a string of no’s. And a good example of how this process is utterly unpredictable. Thanks for sharing the whole picture!
