BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

Hi! Juilliard today has been amazing! I did not bring my computer to NYC to type longe but My SON was accepted to DePaul! I was sure this was a huge no…
can’t wait to share the Juilliard experience (for those who care). So far its everything you’d imagine (even the fabulous lunch… and Richard Fieldman himself sitting down to talk to me about how “special” my son is and remembers him vividly. Parents were there until 4 but after flying at 6am, I was too exhausted to visit cc today
Congrats to everyone else who received acceptances today

@momof2lefties congratulations! What a way to bounce back. So happy for her and if she chooses DePaul, she will love Chicago

@momof2lefties Congratulations on Depaul!! So happy for her!

@momof2lefties That is amazing news. I’m so happy for her. I was blown away by their tech department when we toured a couple years ago and the facilities are just incredible. And congrats on the waitlist @soundcloudmom! And more congratulations to @actingdreams - wonderful news about DePaul and the feedback he’s already getting at Juilliard. I can’t wait to hear more about it!

Any one hear from cal arts?!?!

@actingmommy88 There were a couple of acceptances to CaLARTS last week. From past years’ experiences, it seems that being asked to shadow a student is a good sign.

How about purchase???

They gave my daughter a note and told her to do her monologue like a horror movie. But she auditioned on campus so I don’t know if they gave out cards if you audition there. @marg928

@actingmommy88 make sure you keep checking the Calarts portal. My D was accepted last year and auditioned in NY. After her audition she was given a card and asked to come to campus to shadow a student. That seems to be their pattern. I have not heard of any Purchase admits on here yet. My D also applied there last year (our kids have the same taste in schools!) but was only accepted to the BA program. It was very high on her list.

Did they interview her after? Did they give her a note? Where is your daughter now? Thanks for being so helpful!!! @marg928

@actingmommy88 My daughter is currently a freshman at Loyola Marymount in LA. In the end it came down to LMU and Calarts. I was not in the room during her audition but I remember her coming out and telling me they gave her a card and they encouraged her to shadow a student. As far as an interview per se, I guess they spoke with her but I don’t know how long or what it entailed. Others described that same scenario in years prior and it usually ends up an acceptance. She did visit in April last year and spent the day shadowing a student. In the end she decided to go the BA route. She just wasn’t sure she would be happy at Calarts. I just checked for you and she got her acceptance letter last year on March 3rd.

@momof2lefties Congrats on DePaul. That’s great news. Things are starting to happen now!

@soundgirlmom Good news and congrats on DePaul. It’s nice that they put the WL thing in perspective.

Hello all drama mamas and dads,

I have finally completed my period as lurker, as we all have performed before daring to comment! It is so fun to see all of you guys posting about your kids acceptances. I myself am a D17 as it stresses my mom out way too much to look at this stuff! She starts to hyperventilate whenever I try to share any information about when I’m hearing, so I am keeping it all to myself and just let her know when I get in somewhere. Which, unfortunately I have not! Well, not into my top ten. I decided for myself that I was gonna go big or go home with acting - either I go to one of my top ten, or I move to NYC, work as a “struggling actress” for a year, and reaudition next year. I am purely interested in rigorous, conservatory-style BFA programs, and most of those do not accept transfer credits, so I think getting some real world experience is more important than spending a year someplace only to (hopefully) transfer out and start all over again!

I am commenting now because I am very confused about Texas State! I did a lot of walk-ins when I was at the LA Unifieds, Texas being one of them. Just to make sure I did not slip through the cracks (as I did at UNCSA, sadly), I emailed them on Feb. 26 to make sure that I was in their files, and got a response the next day saying that the “acting department are making their final decisions. They will contact you through email.” My problem is, I have not heard a peep! No PH email or rejection email. I was wondering if any of you know of people who are in the same limbo as me? Otherwise I am afraid I am already in that crack in the floorboard! I also do not want to email again and be a pest.

Thank you guys for creating such as easy community and give me a place to indulge all my information-thirsty moments! I love that I check every day and there are two new pages. BAL to people still waiting for responses, I’m right there with you!

(The three big ones I am waiting for currently are BU, Suny Purchase, and NYU)

Oh, also @cassidysmom - was there any change in your portal? Would also love any more info anyone has on the SUNY Purchase front!

@mrsborle Texas State PH email went out on 3/1. It sounds like call(s) are being made today. It also sounds like they have taken some students that reapplied from last year as was noted earlier this week(mentioned in a rejection notification). You can always contact them to confirm that you will in fact receive some sort of notification. Especially, since it was a walk in. My S auditioned at LA Unifieds as well. Good luck!

@mrsborle - if you are on Facebook, you might also want to try The Green Room. It’s a closed group of students only and according to my D there is lots of discussion about all schools. And welcome to CC!

@HopeinMT Sorry to hear! We all just want that one that makes them happy, right?! Hope you have/will get that one! Good Luck!

@mrsborle My d is also part of the Green Room. It’s a great support system! You may need to be invited so if so, message me and I can connect you with my daughter.

@mtmaybe Hi. My D auditioned at IWU in late October for the BFA-Acting. She received her offer of admission in early December. I have not read or seen any admissions on CC for BFA-Acting or BFA-MT for IWU (I believe the S of @DoinResearch received admission to the BA-Theater program a while back, as well). A couple of MT prospects recently were redirected to the BA-Theater program (and my D has a schoolmate who that happened to last year too who was an MT candidate.) I would call the Theater Dept. because admissions for IWU are rolling.
