RIT in Rochester, NY may be a very good fit. It depends - they have a top ranked animation program, many other art programs, a special program called SPECTRUM which is there to support kids on the spectrum, they have a support program for students with challenges such as inattention, lots of technology… They meet much more need, at least they did for us. Our daughter was accepted at Ringling, MassArt, Otis, Laguna, SCAD, and a few others, but the financial aid package from RIT was much more attractive. Our daughter goes there for their graphic design program, and it is costing us less to send her there than to MassArt. Their College of Art and Design is great, https://www.rit.edu/artdesign/ While the college is on the larger side, it doesn’t feel like it. There are a lot of engineers, and a lot of art majors. While not liberal arts, there are some interesting classes. One last thing, our daughter had a challenging time finding friends, but finally joined a sorority, which has been unexpectedly wonderful for her. I highly recommend RIT!
BFA in Animation/Illustration for talented and ambitious student with IEP/ADHD and in the spectrum..
Hi, our older daughter has a similar background. She was at SCAD for 2 years studying animation, it didn’t quite work out for her. She came home and went to our local CC, and then re-applied to several as a transfer. She got into SAIC and Columbia College Chicago, not into MICA and SVA. She just started at SAIC in August, and is doing well academically and enjoying Chicago. Her major there will be customized, and probably a combination of 2D/3D animation, screenwriting, and perhaps comic book/graphic novels.
