My D is only a freshman in HS so we are just starting to research good options for her and at first I was very excited about CSUF as we live in Southern California. But the more I read about the cut program and the stressful environment it creates for the students who are constantly viewing each other as competition, the less attractive it became. I read over some of the older threads here with comments from former CSUF students and while it seems like a good program for those who do make it through, it definitely does not seem to create the nurturing environment and cameraderie the first couple of years that people seem to describe in other non-cut programs. I would rather my daughter go through the trial by fire of auditions during her senior year and hope that she lands in a good program that recognizes her talent from day one and will commit to seeing that talent through to its fullest to the completion of the degree.

I do indeed know that CSUF is a cut school and I applied to a lot of other places! CSUF is just my top pick.
