BFA NY Showcase AND Joe's Pub performance!

The 2014 Ball State BFA NY Showcase was a huge success. Over 75 agents, casting directors, and industry representatives attended with wonderful results. Our students have been in meetings this week interviewing with prospective agents and auditioning with major casting offices. Several students have been called in to audition for Broadway companies and/or tours. Most students will wait to officially sign until after they visit LA and gauge their interest levels between the three major cities. Most students are already freelancing with agents in Chicago based on their Chicago Showcase results in December.

Tonight, we culminate our NY trip with an 11pm performance at Joe’s Pub. Our senior MT students will perform an hour long program entitled LET YOURSELF GO under the direction of two-time Tony Award winning actress Sutton Foster. The show is the culmination of a semester long course in Cabaret taught by Sutton to all senior MT students. EVERY MT STUDENT AT BALL STATE TAKES THIS COURSE AND PARTICIPATES IN THE SENIOR CABARET. We are truly indebted to Sutton for making this event possible.

Other highlights from the week include multiple workshops with leading industry professionals from NY. This year students met with Sebastian Arcelus (star of HOUSE OF CARDS) and Kate Rockwell (ROCK OF AGES among others). Past guests have included Joel Grey, Christine Baranski, Norbert Leo Butz, and Danny Burstein.

Looking forward to our students returning home and preparing for the LA Showcase with Casting Director of THE GOOD WIFE Mark Saks and opening THE MUSIC MAN on campus on two weeks!
