does anyone know how many freshman are usually admitted into the bfa theatre (acting emphasis) program? what percent of applicants are usually accepted for the bfa theatre acting program?

My daughter will be applying next year for the acting program. May I ask what are your statistics, where you're from, and do you have any professional acting/modeling credits?

Thank you for this information in advance.

hey there

i am also applying next year too.

well, i'm from southern cali. LOTS of ecs, volunteer stuff, awards, music activities and awards, leadership (president of 2 clubs), 3.8 uw usc gpa, top 2% or 3% of class out of approx. 640 students. i have somewhat limited experience in high school acting cause of extremely difficult course load, but i will be attending a 6 week summer acting program this summer. currently in acting for tv and film class- my teacher is a professor at the usc school of theatre :) will be coaching middle school students in theater acting starting in march. no professional credits yet. hope to get an agent soon though.

how about ur daughter?

We also live in southern California. My daughter attends a public high school with a very fine theater department. Her grades have gone up...from a horrible freshman year to a 3.9 this semester. She is a nationally ranked athlete and plays for her school as well. She has done some professional work as a model and as an actress (a few commercials, and some other stuff...nothing amazing). She has taken a decent amount of classes and has done theater as well. Her high school ecs have been in theater and sports.

she sounds like a good applicant.

my school has a very weak theater and music program, so i have to look for theater activities outside of school. :/

if i don't get into the bfa, hopefully i get in as a ba major in theater

You definitely sound like a good applicant. My older daughter is a film major at SC. Film school requires very high stats, but I understand that Theater students are given a little slack. I'm not sure if my daughter will apply for a ba or a bfa. I imagine she will apply to the program that will cut her a bit of slack, grade wise. (In the old days SC always looked for the upward grade progress...now who knows? And I should know...I went to SC as well.)

In the meantime, good luck finding an agent...the right agent. I hope that you and my daughter will be able to compare notes as freshman.

I will be auditioning for the bfa theatre program on Feb. 17. It sounds like we are in the same boat CameronK. The drama program at my school is not very good, and there is no community theatre in my area. I have gone to a camp in New York to get some experience, but my resume is still quite short. I guess I better have an exceptional audition.

My daughter is auditioning on the 17 also. Is there any one who has been through this process that wants to tell us what to expect? We may get to meet wannabe!

usc-wannabe....GOOD LUCK

let me know how the audition goes and everything.

any other comments on usc auditions from ppl w/ past experience??

will do CameronK. I would also like to hear from others because I basically have no idea what the whole process is going to be like.
