BFA waitlist

Does anyone know how easy or difficult it is to come off the wait list for the BFA in MT? Does anyone know how many they have taken off the wait list in the past? Is it easier for a boy or a girl to get off the wait list?

Hi 3,

I received your private message but CC will not let me post or respond to private messages until I have posted at least 15 times so I will reply to it on this string. Anyway, we still had not heard a peep from UM until I got tired of waiting and called them yesterday and spoke with the admissions counselor who handles all BFAs. She said there were several BFAs that the BFA program had not rendered a decision on yet and ours was one of them but the decision would be posted to myUM today or Monday.

FSU offered us BA program at 75% scholarship level plus Honors status. UT offered same but 100% scholarship. We have accepted UT’s offers and have registered due to some early deadlines for Chancellor’s Honors program and since she did not have a good experience at FSU, it was a no brainer. If UM offers BA and a significant scholarship, then she will have some serious thinking to do because she had a great experience at UM. Guess we will know more next week.

Hey 3,

Finally heard from UM. We are wait-listed and it does not look like there will be any significant scholarship $$$ for BA so we are UT-bound. We cannot blow what we have at UT to wait on the wait-list. UT’s BA is very similar to UM, UT does not do a BFA but they have a good MFA program. We are in a unique position because my D has a very strong academic career and is a part of the Chancellor’s Honors program at UT and will most likely major in another field and also in Theatre. The good thing is that UT has BA alumni (David Keith, Dale Dickey) who have accomplished a lot so, in the end it really comes down to chasing the dream when you leave school.
