BGR 2014

Is BGR required for all freshmen? I really don't want to pay $300, especially since my brother can show me everything I need to know about Purdue, and I've lived in the area for quite a while.

It isn’t required, but I highly recommend it. It’s more than just being shown things. It’s a social event as well. Since you are grouped together, you get to meet people–definitely a blessing for some people. You can do without it (I have a few friends that didn’t) but, as stated before, I recommend it.
Also, my parents were boilermakers and I had been on campus so many times before coming, knew all the major superstitions/random facts. I still chose to do BGR. Good luck at Purdue next year, and welcome!
