Bhangra in India

Any of you students from Punjab and on a bhangra team? How is the scene over there? How do comps work, etc? And lastly, do you guys watch a lot of North American team vids online?

Just really curious, thanks.

I don’t live in Punjab but I am Punjabi :D

To be honest, I think bhangra competitions are much more popular there in the US. Here in India, at the most, there maybe a dance competition annually, nothing too exciting.

I’m not saying it’s non existent, but yeah it pales in comparison to what you would expect.

And I’m referring to Bhangra specifically, not Indian dances in general.

Yeah, prateek said it all :)

lol yes!!!

Yeah, I’ve heard that competitions are not as big there, but do people in Punjab watch NA teams’ videos on YouTube?

Any of you planning on joining a team if you go to school abroad?

Yeah, I’ve heard that competitions are not as big there, but do people in Punjab watch NA teams’ videos on YouTube?

Nope. I doubt majority of the people even realize their existence.

Any of you planning on joining a team if you go to school abroad?

Hell yes :)

Haha maybe not Bhangra but I wanna join a Bollywood dance team!! It would remind me of crazy afternoons spent at home with friends :)

feels jealous coz he can’t dance

You think I can? I’m a horrible dancer. But that doesn’t stop me from letting loose!

Lol, there are people around me with eyes. And hands…

We aren’t exactly eyeless or handless down here, you know…

Lol. That was a nice innuendoish statement.

(This thread makes me ashamed that I’m Indian and know nothing about bhangra apart from that random pumping movement with my hands. And yes, Bollywood dance rocks.)

Errr I don’t know much about Bhangra either. And that wasn’t an intentional innuendo :P.

But Bollywood dance is the $hit. We all do it for the lulz.

*Feels ashamed at not being able to understand the innuendo/8

Talk to me or Quasi more often. More Quasi than me, actually. Then you’ll be in on the language.

:D I’m so unladylike.

doesn’t have anything witty to say

You never do.

Why?
10char

Because you’re a horned sexist pig
